They don't make them like Gilligan's Island anymore. What a sweet, simple, silly little show. Grew up watching reruns after school in the early to mid-80s.
I remember one special where they escaped the island (can't remember if they did this more than once, want to say it was in the 80s), and the Professor has a nice lab and he's all excited inventing things, but they're all things that were invented and made people successful while he was stuck on the island. Like the Frisbee, which the Skipper points out someone else has already come up with. I felt for the poor guy!
Rest well, sir.

Aw no, not the Professor, how sad. Now only Tina and Dawn are left of the castaways. As others here, I grew up on Gilligan, in fact I'm watching it as I type. Russell was the perfect Professor, he was also great as the drunken mean guy in Space Children and many other roles.
Rest well Professor.

Rest Well Sir.. Enjoyed him not only on Gilligan's Island but on shows like The Twilight Zone and Death Valley Days to name a few. In addition to The Space Children and MST3K The Movie of course.

The Professor was one of my earliest inspirations for my life long love of science. I just wanted so much to be able to create things the way he did on the show.
R. I. P. Professor, and thank you for instilling in a young chicken the thirst for knowledge.

What you're thinking of is the TV reunion movie Rescue from Gilligan's Island. They made two others, Castaways on Gilligan's Island and Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island. I grew up watching Gilligan's Island, so when a beloved castmember passes away, it hits me hard. I remember being in debial when Bob Denver passed on about a decade ago. Now all we have is Tina Louise and Dawn Wells. Though almost poetically, last year I got really sick and was forced to stay home for several days. I started watching Gilligan's Island because I had purchased the series fairly cheap but never gotten around to popping it in. By the time I was healthy again I had watched all 98 episodes.

I know I have his autograph from ConventioCon 2 around here somewhere. I fondly remember him explaining to Rex Reason what a bong is.
