Being sick with the flu this week, I am stuck at home with not much to do. When stuck at home, I usually turn to MST3k to keep my mind occupied (or some other form of movie riffing). I don't know if anyone else does this, but I have a few go to eps to help me "feel better". It's usually something that can make me laugh or just some of their better eps. For me it would be:
Anything from the Gamera series Either of the Godzilla episodes Danger: Death Ray Eegah! Mitchell Radar Secret Service Girl's Town Untamed Youth Time Chasers TISCTSLABMUZ Puma Man Girl in Gold Boots Squirm Danger:Diabolik
Non MST3K Any of the CT Live shows Any of RT's live shows My new RT favorite: Supersonic Man
So what episodes would you watch if you stuck home alone, and all sicky.

Girl In Gold Boots is one of my favorites. I also love SST Deathflight, Touch Of Satan, Fire Maidens From Outer Space, Mitchell, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, and Marooned.
Non-MST I have all the Rifftrax Live shows on DVD, so I'll bust them out, and I've got all of Cinematic Titanic DVD's as well.

When I want a pick-me-up, I generally prefer the MST3K episodes based around goofy fare that's kind of fun by itself. So that means episodes like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Bride of the Monster, Pumaman, stuff like that. Episodes based around more painful, depressing fare, like the Coleman Francis episodes or Incredibly Strange Creatures, are for a different mood.

Well, even inasmuch as I've pretty much never seen an episode of MST3K that didn't make me feel better (except for Pod People...grrrrrr), if we're talking episodes I'd like to watch while laid up with the flu -- as opposed to using them to beat back depression -- right off the top of my head, I'd probably go with any or all of:
1. King Dinosaur 2. Gamera Vs Guiron 3. Secret Agent Super Dragon 4. Hercules And The Captive Women 5. Racket Girls 6. Danger: Death Ray! 7. The Brute Man 8. Riding With Death 9. Puma Man 10. Hamlet (no, really)

Oh, I forgot about The Brute Man! "Why did you hire me if you hate me so much?" lol

Usually I just sleep off an illness, but I was laid up for a day with a head cold while it was negative some degrees outside so I watched the Day the Earth Froze and really enjoyed it. Ultimately, I feel like I just have to pick an episode that fits my mood. But if I were to be sick again, I would probably play any Sandy Frank episode, the Master Ninjas, or Outlaw of Gor. Hobgoblins too.

On my list, I was trying for episodes which were either "light" or silly, for during the day (like Secret Agent Super Dragon or Gamera Vs Guiron), or else kind of "quiet" and mellow, for later in the evening, when I'd be trying to get myself to nod so I can sleep it off (The Brute Man, Hamlet). I guess I sorta kinda succeeded (?)

Back when my sister and I watched them regularly during our college days, we had an odd tendency to be drawn toward Squirm (and A Case Of Spring Fever.) It's probably not a feel-good movie in the traditional sense, but we have a lot of favorite lines from it.
"Now YOU gonna be the worm face!" "Mr. Beardsley?!"

For me, it comes down to any of the Gamera episodes. No matter how many times I watch them, they never fail to make me laugh out loud all over again.

Hmm, let's see...
Project Moonbase Eegah! I Accuse My Parents Screaming Skull Girl in Gold Boots Alien from LA
For a long time I would put my entire episode collection on random play while I slept. I would come to some groggy form of consciousness in the middle of the night and watch, like, Wild Rebels for five minutes before falling back to sleep. Really awesome when you're running a high fever.

I like a nice "old fashioned", as I think of them, episode, one I know well so I don't have to concentrate too hard. Eegah!, I Accuse My Parents, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, Skydivers, Bloodlust...all perfect for couch and chicken soup kinda day.
Oh, oh...my adenoids.
