Shirley Temple Black, the child star turned diplomat died Monday February, 9th 2013, at the age of 85, according to her publicist. Temple who skyrocketed to fame as a child actress in the 1930's later became a diplomat, serving as ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia. Temple who first achieved acclaim in 1934's Stand Up and Cheer , she received a special Academy Award in 1935, and is credited with saving 20th Century Fox from bankruptcy. She was also widely credited with lifting the spirits of Americans during the Great Depression, her immense popularity led Franklin Delano Roosevelt to say, " As long as our country has Shirley Temple we'll be all right.". gosh, i thought she passed away some time ago. i just never heard anything about her anymore. but what a long, amazing life she had. i always admired her for her involvement for breast cancer awareness. i'm sure this will be sad news for mj, i think he was a big fan.
