It is my understanding that he was in charge of writing the dialogue of the host segments if so big hat off to this chap (lol) for this, yes the riffs are what matter but it is those host segments that are a necessary… necessity. That style of whimsical interacting is unmatched and probably still underrated in its appeal… so if all the accumulated host segments amounts to the mind of Paul Chaplin, then wow.

The interaction between Frank and Dr. F was not only magical but indelible, and it owed no small part of that to the writing. "I'm declaring this national OUR day!"

I didn't know that, cool.
He's great when he stars in the host segments too, for instance, in Devil Fish when he shows up on the SOL as an electrician and Mike teases him because he assumes all electricians are as dumb as the guy in the movie. He takes Mike's jokes in stride but gets even when he dials up a dolphin warship on his cellphone and informs Mike that electricians had a lot of problems after the movie "Devil FIsh" came out so they formed a mutual defense pact with the dolphins lol.
Where does he even come up with stuff like that? Surely a hilarious, slightly demented individual, that Paul Chapin.

Wait...where'd this info come from? I've never heard that.
What the hell happened to Paul anyways? He was in some of those godawful Flash cartoons Jim Mallon made back in the day, but since then, nothing. No Cinematic Titanic, no Rifftrax, no Twitter, nothing.

I guess I wasn't aware Paul did most of the segments, either, this is the first I've really heard about it. Interesting.
I think Paul was around for the 20th anniversary panel in 2008, wasn't he? I don't think he said a whole lot but he was there. But otherwise, yeah, he's stepped back from the MST3K world, it seems.

This was gathered from this board in one of the years from some more knowledgable ones who were trying to deduce who did what on the show, the only other one could be Mary Jo Pehl who according to the ACEG was brought in season 4 to give a more of a woman side to the segments, and there is quite a bit of mention of Chaplin (who also coincidentally wrote the lionshare of the ACEG lol) of her throughout in their bickering interactions, but by scifi era she was already in a starring role. Chaplin always , aside from the cameos, was pretty much a writer so it seems they placed him in charge wholesale with the host segments again… and i bet he spent a loooong time perfecting them.

Uh, ok. I guess if that's your deduction...
