I say "call-aheads" instead of "callbacks" because they're riffs that refer to episodes that aired after the episode containing the reference. In The Brain That Wouldn't Die, there's a riff that references Radar Secret Service ("not with RADAR!"), and in Warrior Of The Lost World, as the Professor's daughter is about to shoot the Paper Chase Guy, we hear Crow(?) saying "I accuse my parents!". I suspect this is because the episodes weren't all made in the order of the episode number, or perhaps that the movie in that particular episode was part of a batch of movies they reviewed and started writing riff scripts for; in this case, was Radar Secret Service actually done before The Brain That Wouldn't Die?
I can't remember any others off the top of my head, but I'd bet there's more. Anyone else here care to remember any episodes where they do callback riffs to movies in episodes that hadn't aired yet?

From a certain point of view, there's one in the closing bit from "Rocketship X-M", when Joel asks why the Mads didn't just send "Marooned". Flash forward a couple of years...
And there's Willy the Waffle from "Viking Women and the Sea Serpent". It references "A Case of Spring Fever", which they'd all seen but couldn't use until years later.

The host segments for Season 8's "Parts: The Clonus Horror" are a loose parody of the film "The Space Children", which they didn't riff until Season 9.
"The Beast of Yucca Flats" is mentioned as being part of Mike's training in "The Brain That Wouldn't Die", but didn't riff until Season 6.

Thanks for jogging my memory; don't they also mention Night Of The Lepus in that bit? They never did get around to that one; it wasn't until RiffTrax started that they finally got to that one. They also mention Night Of The Lepus in one of the lab scenes in Revenge Of The Creature, if I recall.

Yeah, the movies that the bots made Mike watch are one of my favorite little 4th-wall leanings in the show.
Sure, I *could* come up with a convoluted reason for why they didn't later reference that Mike'd already seen that movie, but... seems a lot of work for a show where I already don't wonder how they're breathing.

Or what about the times when Mike references a film that was shown during the Joel era? Mike: "That looks like Jet Jaguar." Crow: "How would you know?"

As for how Mike knew... it's possible Mike's just a fan of Godzilla flicks.

that riff's from either the sinister urge or the violent years. (those two blend together in my mind.) i think it's sinister urge though.
