Do any websites still have archived messages from the great flamewars of '93? So far I've only found a couple Usenet groups, and they were far too civil to be representative.

It was like a dumpster fire full of diapers filled with Indian food...

This is starting to make me think of the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. The thing itself is gone, but we know about the widespread effects.

They're all backed up on Google's servers, going back to 1992.

I checked a couple which seemed pretty tame.

It's possible they were deleted by moderators at the time.

This board once reignited the flame wars... for about a day. You can read those posts, but they were all staged as part of a Twilight-themed April Fools Day prank, so they don't really count. Archived, though.

I didn't start posting on the 'Net until after the change occurred, so I missed a lot of it (thank Heavens). There were some occasional posts on Deep Blurting, but only by jerks trying to start something. The regulars didn't follow suit, as I recall.

Why do we want there to be archived flame wars? So we can say we were there? So we can speculate about our heroes not liking each other? What does it even prove? Rifftrax is distributing old MST3K, MST3K.com leads to new MST3K, and the Turkey Day box set has both Comedy Central and Sci Fi episodes. I think they're mending fences.
Speaking of flame wars at all, I wish people would remember that anything you read on a forum, website, or email is not just the message you are reading. It's your own emotions coloring how you feel about what you are reading, on top of the message you are reading. Citation: My interpersonal communication in small groups course textbook from college had a passage on how email is inferior to in person communication for this very reason.
Sad really, and it hurts me all the time. The more strongly I feel about something, the more I write about it. The less I edit, the more the reader inserts their own emotions. I pray, dear reader, you were in a good mood when you read this post!

I think it's okay to look over the past so that we can learn the lessons of history. I doubt anyone here's looking to rekindle the old flames of ages past, many of which predate this message board.
It was a darker era for the Internet as a whole back then, I think.

People were mean, bad words were tossed around, I cried. The normal.
