This is a poll of MST3K character costumes and clothing, not monster effects like The THe Eye Creatures' sorry costumes, the party beach horror, etc. Just fashion disaster clothes worn by regular anthropoid characters. My original poll was Nov 16 2008, with 50 responses. Jack Palance's hat won by a large margin. The MST3K experiment for Space 1999 was "Cosmic Princess" No. K10. I have only ever seen one internet image of the ridiculous alien jackolantern helmet - You have to see it - the last time I saw it was on Mighty Jack's MST3K website. See the image here: mightyjacks.blogspot.jp/2014/08/k10-cosmic-princess.html

The pants and belt in Daddy-O. The style has been revived by Walmartian females who go sans bra.

Samson from Samson Vs. The Vampire Women.
Crow's cackling the moment Samson is revealed on screen if infectious. And appropriate.

The masking tape flight suits from Teenagers From Outer Space always makes me laugh, and the thought of the photo shoot host segment later in the episode doesn't help to stop me from giggling through the entire movie.

Oh that was a good one AFC - and the host segment too. I wish I had thought of that one, and TeenagersFOS is one of my favorite episodes too.

I just happened to watch my replacement disc to Volume 10 the other night so it was fresh on my mind. Yep, Volume 10 was the only MST3K collection I happened to pre-order on Amazon only to be sad when I had to "replace" that big lizard movie.

Support for Jack Palance's hat is failing, so I have to resort to posting Don3K's image from Nov 2008:

I went with Gumby, because predicting future fashions is always froght with comedy.
But Gloria Henderson's in The Sinister Urge? Her outfits always make my laugh...or fear...or...
lust?

There were some strong contenders in there, but in the end I just had to go with Torgo's Depends with saggy jodphurs. I'm assuming I can only vote for one here. Still, I love how Gloria's outfits in The Sinister Urge -- I just watched that this afternoon -- beautifully escalated from Delightfully Tacky to OH LORD OUT MY EYES through the course of the movie. Might I also throw in a good word here for Jane's zebra-stripe top with a lab coat, a beret and a half-veil from Puma Man? Everybody talks about the Pyoomayman's dumb-ass getup, but Jane's outfit steals the show early.

Samson from Samson Vs. The Vampire Women. Crow's cackling the moment Samson is revealed on screen if infectious. And appropriate. That had to be an all-time costume moment ranking right up there with Gloria's getups in Sinister Urge. What makes the moment isn't so much the costume -- pretty much standard Mexican masked pro rassler gear for that era -- as the context and place where it first appears, and how it first appears; basically, a seemingly random arbitrary moment in the movie.

I actually ended up voting for Torgo's Depends With Baggy Jodphurs, but it'd be unfair to not give at least a mention to Donald Pleasance's evil smoking jacket that looked as if it were made out of oven mitts, in Puma Man. Puma Man is a motherlode of costume disasters sadly overshadowed by its titular hero's Captain Dork outfit.
