I've not been able to watch much of it today (family stuff and work got in the way) but I've loved what I've seen so far. I liked the mini-sketch between Final Justice and The Day The Earth Froze, and the well-wished Happy Holidays greetings have been great.

I got to watch most of it and enjoyed it.
Nice to see Jonah return for a little bit and I think Emily is cool.

It was nice to see Shout expand the marathon, considering they stream most of the series. Can't really argue with eight episodes at roughly 16 hours.

I find it kinda weird how Emily has been treated in these live events. It's almost like they don't totally trust her with riffing. She didn't even riff on anything during the actual live show, right? She mainly just did maintenance stuff. Every time she has gotten a chance to riff, it's either been too short or something that's already been riffed on. I personally don't have anything against Emily. It's just that I feel like I haven't seen the best that she can do because she's consistently not been given much to work with.

At the Live shows Emily acts something like an MC. She gets the audience revved up for the hosts to get on stage. As far as I know she never participated in the riffing.
It appears Emily Marsh is a puppeteer, so presumably she might have been hired to work the bots behind the scenes and they decided to put her on stage because she's also a performer. But I don't fully know what the story behind her inclusion, her character, or her role is supposed to be. She just kind of was present in this franchise one day and never left.
It seems like she acts mostly as a placeholder straight man for the bots until there is any sort of concrete future for MST put into place. Whether Emily has a place in that future, I don't know, but Joel sure likes using her. But she's cute and funny, so I won't complain about that.

Yeah, I both simultaneously feel like Emily's a good host that I just don't know yet, but also that I haven't seen her enough yet to know if she's a good host. To quote Reptillicus, I get the sense that she's a "natural born Gizmocrat".
I like the implication that the "Forrester Experiment" has sort of drifted into a couple of different directions with both her and Jonah kinda/sorta active as test subjects.

The first and only time I ever saw Emily was when she hosted that recent reunion/telethon. She's spirited and likeable and absolutely adorable but my God she needs better material. That interminable pumpkin sketch screamed "placeholder" (insert funny sketch here). Give her something better to do and then we'll see if she's really got the chops.

One thing I noted about Emily's interaction with the Bots is that she kind of has more exaggerated childlike sort of interplay, like she's talking to puppets on Sesame Street or The Muppet Show, as opposed to Joel, Mike, or Jonah who speak to them mostly as a family of equals. I'm curious if that's something she brought from other puppet gigs.
The one big laugh I can think of that I got from her was when I was reviewing last year's Turkey Day bumpers, and she had a concluding line about how she was going to leave to visit family for the holiday, but got halfway there and "I suddenly remembered...I'm an orphan!," which she states both matter-of-factly and proudly, and the bots responded "HOORAY!" She can be really funny if she's given the right line, and I've seen her name in the writing credits, so she contributes. They really need to decide what her role is though, because she doesn't really have one.

I didn't see too much of it, but I'm glad YouTube has archived it. I did catch the opening movie (you can't go wrong with "I Accuse My Parents") and the closing re-riff of the supermarket short. I made sure to watch for a bit after the closing, just in case they threw in another big post-credits announcement. Given the plugs for Alternaversal, it looks like the show is still in business.

I believe her name was Allison Bartlett (Gina on Sesame Street). Gina was likewise pert and endearing and was perhaps the only cast member capable of stealing focus from a muppet -- even Elmo. My first impression of Emily is that she shares many of the same qualities.

I didn't see too much of it, but I'm glad YouTube has archived it. The archived YouTube stream is actually only the first 11 hours and 55 minutes. That means the end of 422 and the last two episodes and re-riff of the Supermarket short are missing.

Shout usually posts the Turkey Day segments on either Youtube or Shout Factory TV. When I viewed their archived versions for my blog, they kept certain ads and even the Stranger Things promo from 2017. I imagine that's a promising indication that the shorts will be saved with the segments..

I have a feeling that they will be. MST3K has a definite kind of "waste not" attitude toward its material lately.

Was it anything like this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8aNTWMTE74Because that was aweful. I had never seen it before, just found it now searching for this year. ...EDIT... oh god, just peeked at the full stream of this year, opening segment -- it's like that one, but with extra added COVID quarantine zoom crap smeared on top. ugh.
