So this morning I saw the latest thread that someone posted asking what everyone's hobbies were. The first thing I thought of:
So, trying to be funny, I posted a paraphrased text of this. About forty minutes later I thought maybe I should alter it, and lo and behold, not only was the post deleted but I was deleted. Poor Judgement? Yeh, probably, everyone makes mistakes. The sad thing is, I was a member of this group for quite a while posting content and get tons of likes and...poof....I'm gone.
Anyway I didn't want people to get the wrong idea about me so to those of you who got my post, good on ya. To those of you who didn't get my post and might have been offended/frightened/angered, please take comfort that at no time was there ever a psychopath in your midst. Heck I'm a Canadian, a people known for being aggressively polite and unassuming. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Thank you and good night!

Was it MST And More, formerly the MST Revival League? If so, yeah...whoever runs it allows all sorts of off-kilter stuff but tamps down pretty hard on other stuff. No harm no foul, I'm only still a member so I can use the connections for tape trading.

MSTies and More is very inconsistent with its policies. They will preach about no tolerance for hostility, but mods will openly dogpile on people they don't agree with and goad them until they get banned. I've seen them happen more than once, especially during the Mike Nelson podcast controversy. And don't get me started on the dumpster fire that is the Singles Group.
I've never really had an open problem with them before, and mostly used them as a platform to advertise my blog. The only thing I've experienced personally that I felt was nonsense was when I posted my review of the Rise of Skywalker Rifftrax. I was promptly deleted for being "off topic," despite it being a Rifftrax review (and all of my previous Rifftrax reviews were allowed just fine, including Star Wars ones), and when I tried to appeal I was curtly told "We're not a Star Wars group." Honestly, I think the deletion wasn't because it was Star Wars but rather because of my opinion of the film and they didn't want to start some sort of Star Wars flame war. I was very not kind to that movie.
But I'm rarely on Facebook anyway, so it's a fairly moot point.

I mean that's pretty funny and it's always good, imo, to post a Monty Python bit.
However, probably better off having your Facebook participation cut .

I can't seem to find my old group in question but it did have a lot of members.

I've never been banned, censured or involved in any controversy in any of the dozens of message boards or groups that I have been involved with in my two decades on the net. I think this is the universe's way of telling me to stop wasting my time.

I think it was Mystery Science Theater 3000 Public Group. 18k members and when I click on it it won't show me anything. That's wild, when they want you gone they want you GONE.

Golf is not very popular in that group, apparently.

I'm surprised a clip of the original audio of that scene is still around. I remember it from when Time-Life syndicated it, but I'd understood later copies were censored.

I'm surprised a clip of the original audio of that scene is still around. I remember it from when Time-Life syndicated it, but I'd understood later copies were censored. Prior to the recent HD remaster, there were actually two different masters floating around for some Python episodes, including this one. I believe that it was censored in the UK master, but not the one that was sent to the US, but I might have that backwards. So it depended on the source that was used. The funny thing is, when the DVDs were done, it wound up being the opposite; the US DVDs censored the line, but the subsequent somewhat remastered discs released in the UK fixed that and a few other issues. I believe from that point forward, that remaster became the only version which was circulating, and it was definitely the source of the initial HD upscales which were floating around on-line several years ago. But now they did a full restoration, back to the original master tapes (and film where possible), so now it's all been fixed.
