I recall them saying they were watching Howard the Duck and the topic came up, and they were reminded of it because of Bobo and brought it up again.
Then I started wondering the scenario of why they would be watching Howard the Duck together before I realized "Hmm."

One of my favorite parts of the stream was when Joel compared to the Hobgoblins to ZZ Top in that they just show up and make your fantasies come true. Granted that could be a dig on ZZ Top for just comparing them to the hobgoblins in general heh

@ Torgo - It's an interesting thought, Howard would be a weird thing to watch on its own -unless you like cult movies? I imagine it has some kind of following these days.
@ TVs Cowboy, ha, yeah it all depends on your perspective. You do have your dreams come true, but then you die. Looks like they are doing more livestreams, hope they are equally as entertaining and informative. I'm getting my second vaccination on Saturday morn, and the first shot knocked me out for two days straight, I slept and slept (thankfully I had the weekend off) - so if I can't catch them live, I'll watch 'em later, before the campaign ends.
Thursday April 29: Untamed Youth with J. Elvis
Friday April 30: Delta Knights with Mary Jo
Saturday May 1: Gamera vs. Guiron, plus reveal of the first new movies
Sunday May 2: Movie to be announced, plus Joel reveals final bonus challenges
Tuesday May 4: TBA w/Special guest and announcements
So plenty to watch and write about. This is getting fun (its is my first go as a KS backer, so I'm not yet jaded about it all, this is exciting for me)

Can't wait for that Gamera one. Man I am glad they got the rights back for those movies.

Can't wait for that Gamera one. Man I am glad they got the rights back for those movies. For sure. What a coincidence that they were talking about Gamera last night - the one with Zigra, which they liked. I wonder if it would be too pricey to do another Gamera movie for season 13? One they hadn't gotten to yet, that would be a cool announcement.

They've been pretty shameless with at least one nostalgic movie pick each season. 11 had Hercules and 12 had Ator. Bringing in Gamera would totally be something they would try to do if they could do it.

April 30, 1996 - that's when MST3K started for me because that's when Rhino released 3 classic episodes - Mitchell, The Amazing Colossal Man, and Cave Dwellers - We didn't get Comedy Central in my neck of the woods, but my sister, who lived in Portland, did, and told me I'd love it, that I had to see it. It took a while, in the case of the season 3 eps, I saw them about 5 years after their debuts. After finishing with this marathon, I wondered how the recent experiments stacked up against the classic episodes? Would any crack my all-time top 25, or top 50? With Ator fresh in my mind, I had a hankering to revisit Cave Dwellers, which I have at the 25th slot in my Top 100. First thought - in reference to seasons 11 & 12, someone here on the forum lamented the loss of those "conversational" moments on the SOL, and I can see/hear that. There are times in these early eps where they aren't really saying anything funny, and it's like I'm watching 3 pals hanging out, watching a movie. That's not a criticism as it adds to the camaraderie and on-screen chemistry - They aren't just plastering the film with joke after joke after joke after joke. Or bringing in bot after bot, so busy, busy. Cave Dwellers and earlier MST was more relaxed, it allowed breathing room, and it was as much about the personalities of the characters (Joel, Tom, Crow, etc), as it was the riffs. This carries through in the host segments, which had a domestic quality (especially noticeable in season 3). The other difficulty at this stage is that I've become so, so familiar with the classics. A quip no longer leaps out and surprises me, now I'm sitting there, thinking, "Oh, this is where Joel says the speedy delivery guy, line." I can remember what it was like to hear that, and other riffs for the first time, and how it made me howl with laughter. But they don't have the same immediacy. So honestly, trying to compare is difficult. I'd say that the riffing on the best Netflix eps, like Avalanche, was about on par as what was heard in Cave Dwellers, though they are 2 very different sides of the same coin. As mentioned, the work on Dwellers was laid back, Avalanche, well that's an appropriate title, as the new crew hits you with an Avalanche of jokes. It's hard to say where I'd rank Carnival Magic or Avalanche vs. the great Joel/Mike episodes - and I'm drifting away from that anyway. I've embraced the film or tv diary concept. It's more relaxing, less confrontational when having debates, lists aren't locked in stone... freeing up a change of opinion. For example, I recently watched Hobgoblins with the livestream crew and laughed like I never did before... at that moment, at that time, Hobby was suddenly a top 50 experiment. The only thing I can say with any certainty is that Ator, The Fighting Eagle was funny, and Cave Dwellers was funny. And yes, I'm okay with being that wishy-washy with my opinions.

Livestream II - wasn't as funny as Hobgoblins, still a solid season 1 episode, but man, if season 11 didn't allow much space between riffs, this first (official) season leaves too much air (something Josh pointed out)
Loved all the Servos, what a cute idea, but wish they'd have at least done a shout-out to the Servo of all Servo's, Kevin Murphy (I'll assume he was invited and bowed out... at least I hope he was invited). And Baron seems cool, I feel bad now bashing him all those years ago. But hey, I've come around, and like him more today than I did in 2017.
And now I'm having fun watching the activity at Kickstarter - after the end of the livestream, things pick up. But I guess (according to people on that other thread) it's not giving enough of a boost. I dunno, this is my first go at this and paying attention as I am. I'm still enjoying the experience.
Looking forward to Mary Jo and hearing what she has to say about Delta Knights.

And Baron seems cool, I feel bad now bashing him all those years ago. Lol, I remember waaaaaaay back in the day when you just HATED Pearl and weren't shy about it, it was on your website and everything. She just made you so angry. So in a way, Baron's Servo is the new Pearl. Anyway, I thought Baron stole the show tonight. Every once a while in the episode he would just improv a joke that would bring the house down. It's so amazing that they've gotten to the point where they could riff in their sleep. Loved seeing the United Servo Academy Men’s Chorus together. Too bad that Kevin couldn't make it complete, but he was off doing the lord's work at Rifftrax. I feel like he would have participated if he could have though. He was a ball on the Mads' show, but at the very least we have one with Bill coming up. BTW MJ, your musing about whether they might do a Gamera movie this season sent me down a bizarre rabbit hole and I went into full conspiracy mode. I did a whole Twittet thread on how I think you might be onto something. I guess we'll find out Saturday if I'm crazy or not.

Dumb question but there were no Gamera movies released in 3D were there? I mean Joel did tease 3D movies and could narrow down things.

Yeah, Torgo, I need to cool my jets on some of that.... but I wasn't alone on Baron, I remember Mr. Atari was pretty much, "everything bad about this thing is Baron's fault". I can't remember where you stood on him back then. And I'm sorry Mary Jo, I love you so much now, the one new thing I still buy from Rifftrax are the releases from you and Bridget. I'm wondering if my opinion of Delta Knights will change with this livestream? As for Gamera - I don't recall anything in 3D from the early era. And did Joel say that one of the 3D movies they are considering is as bad as Manos? Man, I can't even think of what that could be. My first thought on a potential 3D movie was that they might do another Charkes Band, with "Metalstorm, The Destruction of Jared-Syn"

There were definitely no 3D Gamera movies. I'm not sure what movie Joel is leaning toward, but he's saying the 3D movie he's found is "the new Manos." So sounds like he's found something special. I don't think that's the title getting revealed tomorrow though, because he'll likely wait to see if the stretch challenge is met.
MST has done 3D movies before though, notably Robot Monster and Revenge of the Creature. If he's doing anaglyph 3D, I really hope the movie is in black and white. Anaglyph is horrendous in color.

Another fantastic Livestream - I enjoyed all of them, but I think the best ones were the streams with shared casts - Hobgoblins with the tour team, Zombie Nightmare with the Netflix crew, if only for the stories they share.
I found it interesting that they thought Yongary was going to be the big hit with fans, not Cry Wilderness. I thought both were fine and silly and riffable movies, but Wilderness has the steadier, funnier riffing... they spoke more to the movies and the experience of working on them (aparantly, Cry was painful) but don't really speak to the jokes, how aware are they that mayube one is landing better than the other, joke-wise?)
The suprise guest (SPOILER if you haven't seen it, look away) Frank Dietz was great, he's a good sport and an enthusiastic storyteller... we now know why the medical examiner spoke like that, and why Adam was caught reading his script.
Great fun tonight, Joel implied that these livestreams would be around temporarily, but I hope they keep them up forever, or store them at the Gizmoplex.
spellcheck isn't working for some reason, so sorry for the typos, I think I caught most of them, but...

Yeah the stories they had about Zombie Nightmare were hilarious. I do feel sorry for Superstar Billy Graham getting ditched at the airport though.

"The packers will be here in a few minutes..." - "To choke and disappoint us all" - Mom (speaking about house movers) & Bridget (speaking about the team) Ha, that riff killed me. When the Packers WON THE SUPER BOWL! WOO-HOO! MST3K was there to celebrate that in riff-form, and now when the Packers choke, when everyone, especially Packer Backs thought they were shoo-ins to get to the big game, former MSTers, and current Queens of Rifftrax Mary Jo and Bridget are here to give voice our pain. Another fun piece from the ladies (on a short that gets pretty depressing... with a cast that includes Zelda from Dobie Gillis and the military guy from Melting Man). I think one thing I should do one day is devote a page or two to this dynamic duo, as they've been the best thing about Rifftrax in recent years IMHO. Here are the features they've done... Cat-Women of the Moon Gravity (just the jokes) The Amazing Mr. X Angels' Revenge Deadly Instincts Beyond Christmas Junior Prom Sherlock Holmes and the Woman in Green She Devil Girl from Mars Freddie Steps Out Rescue Me Sherlock Holmes: Dressed to Kill She Demons Scared to Death High School Hero Fear Vacation Days Last Woman on Earth Sherlock Holmes: Terror By Night Strange Impersonation Lady Mobster Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon Bride of the Gorilla Frankenstein's Daughter High School U.S.A. Amanda and the Alien What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (not the 60s version) Baby of the Bride Earth Angel Wonder Woman 1984 (just the jokes) Mother of the Bride Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace is no longer on the site, it's one Bridget did with Matthew J. Elliott, and Mary Jos did X-Files with Bill Corbett. So yeah, a person could spend quite a bit of time on these releases, and it would be time well spent.
