I don’t think he’s trying to play this as a prank. What I meant by it says something was that the fact that he has the time to post on twitter but not get back to Kolos is kind of telling me that all of a sudden he wants Kolos off his back, and that’s fine if he doesn’t wish to do business with him anymore, but my stance is just keeping people on read (regardless if the person who sent the message isn’t entitled to a response) is pretty cowardly and immature to me. I’d rather have someone just be straight with me than make me have to look into their head and guess what they’re feeling/thinking.

Oh I agree with you. The way I read it I don't think Alex was ever very enthusiastic about getting involved. I'm very direct and like actual answers whether good or bad. But many other people (it usually feels like most) like to play these games to try to avoid upsetting others. In the end it's simply he has time to do what he wants to do and doesn't have time to do what he doesn't want to do. Short of going to his house nobody's going to be able to force any actions from him.

For what it's worth: Being online and posting elsewhere doesn't mean he doesn't care. People have a lot going on their lives, and what is an Earth shattering revelation to us is not necessarily that important to those outside the fandom. If it's real, he'll get back to us when real life conditions allow. A -very- occasional and -very- gentle reminder now and again - I'm talking no more frequently than monthly - is not out of order. But we have to be patient, else he might get frustrated. We have nothing to lose by being patient. We have everything to lose if he becomes irritated with us. And if it's a prank? We lose nothing at all.

Again I’m gonna give Alex the benefit of the doubt for now, maybe I could just be too pessimistic with this situation cause I don’t know what’s going on in his life right now, but having been in this situation before many, many times…… I really just don’t see this going in a good direction. But otherwise I’m gonna leave it between him and Kolos.

I wouldn't rule out that someone from Shout may have already been in touch with him. In which case, he probably wouldn't be allowed to say anything because if they're in the process of acquiring it, they would want to announce they have it when it makes the most sense for them.

Considering the fact that literally no one but me noticed or engaged with him on Twitter in the first place & his DMs are closed on Twitter; the prospect that anyone else dug through his socials to find his Discord or any other direct contact method, much less anyone from Shout, seems remote. Not impossible, just remote.
...And I wouldn't trust Shout with K03 to begin with, considering they seemingly lost it the first time; and couldn't find good enough copies of the other KTMA eps, even though it seems evident that Jim had everything backed up and/or digitized himself 20 years ago.

I’m more or less convinced their “plan” of releasing the “surviving” KTMA host segments was just them including everything but K03 by including the first two in their pristine copies and then just ripping piss poor 3rd/4th gen copies from YouTube we’re all VERY familiar with (I mean….. they’ve already done that sh*t with “The Making of Mst3k” and promos from ILoveMst3kpromos with half of his original uploads having that VERY nasty 2nd/3rd gen washed up quality and didn’t even try to hide how sloppy they were being there).
I mean look, I don’t know what KTMA episodes they actually physically “have” on them, but frankly I hated how absolutely passive-aggressive they were being suddenly “cancelling” the KTMA bonus disc for “poor quality master tapes” and then just being like “oh well, too bad. Have Play MSTie for me instead.” It really felt like a MASSIVE cop-out to avoid giving an explanation to behind the scenes issues.

There's also Joel's weird love-hate relationship with the era. Over the years he generally seems to have been embarrassed by them and if I recall, didn't want them to ever be re-released. He only really changed his tune, I think, when Kickstarter 1 started - with the astronaut style patch numbers only making sense if you counted the broadcast KTMA stories as part of Joel's count. And making the long lost first two episodes available for the first time ever. He also muttered under his breath about the era in the pitch video for the most recent fundraiser, and I can't tell if that was supposed to be funny or not. I honestly don't know what he feels about them now. Proud of the humble origin that spawned what the show would become? Old shame for unpolished riffing? New shame for how much better the production design is compared to Season 13?
All I know is, Shout Factory is probably the last place this tape should wind up! They, and Rhino before them, have never been particularly interested in releasing any of KTMA beyond some host segments here and there. If we're to see the lost episode in its entirety, it needs to be "in the wild" online first, before the (alleged?!) rights owner can put a stop to it.

Well I know Ivan Askwith said he REALLY wanted to get his hands on a copy, and I don't know if he has ANY involvement with Shout or just Joel's kickstarter.... but him saying "we would have released it by now" when he initially brought up the missing status tells me it's possible there IS a goal of wanting to get that episode out there..... but now I don't know if he was just saying that to get fans off his back or if he ACTUALLY meant that.

I might as well ask since an entire month has pretty much passed at this point.
So is it safe to say that potentially getting a full digitized copy of this episode is at this point pretty much out of the question now? Not a peep out of this has been brought up.

We've got a long holiday weekend, so I don't think bugging him now would be a good idea. Maybe politely ping him about it in one more week. I'm none too optimistic about this leading anywhere, though.

Is there a reference in the way you've phrased that? f not - I have to ask - why do you dislike the holiday?

Same reasons for why I dislike the Fourth of July - I don’t wish to celebrate holidays dedicated to America, even if it is more for Washington’s Birthday. I hate this country and its politics. At most I’ll appreciate Memorial Day, Veteran’s day and MLK day but that’s it. That’s all I wish to discuss regarding the reasons.

MST3K was made in america by americans who had the freedom to make a silly show that often poked fun at america and americans.
