A president and a gentleman-- RIP Gerald Rudolph Ford, ne Leslie Lynch King, Jr. Another great one... who was succeeded by another crappy one.

That was an uncalled for jab at Carter. Grow up.

Although I was just a kid when he was president, I have fond memories of Ford...especially the suits and ties

Yes, and the brilliant company he surrounded himself with, as shown above.

Gerald Ford was the closest I have ever gotten to a President of these United States physically. In April of 1975 I was a member of the Royal Welch Fusiliers in America and we were literally between President Ford and the protesters of the People's Bicentennial Committee (or something like that) when he spoke at the 200th commemoration of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. I was right in front of him, about 20 yds away with bayonet fixed and an angry mob behind me. It was the thin red line for real! I remember I was thinking this was what it must have been like for the British Soldiers in Revolutionary Boston what with epithets and garbage being thrown at us. Gerry arrived and left by helicopter. His speech wasn't very long as I recall and not very memorable. Anyway, goodby President Gerry. You deserved better.

"Hi , I'm Jimmy Carter, I'm running for president. You did fine out there boy." The only thing I remember about Ford was the suits, ohhh.. and the SNL skits .. which don't seem appropriate to think right now..heh OT.. I really like Jimmy Carter, though more as a private citizen then as a president.

When I heard he died the first thing that jumped into my mind was that old SNL skit with Dana Carvey. And after an hour of looking on youtube, then finally google video, I found it.RIP Mr. Ford.
