Are there any other readers out there?
I finished it last night. I enjoyed it.
I'd love to share my thoughts about it, but I don't want to spoil anything.
So I'll just wait here for other posters.

I kinda want to know how it ends, but I'm too lazy to read all seven books to find out.

There's a period at the end.
I loved it too, Mr. A. I will admit that I'm unhappy the series has ended. I would like more books set in this world.

I have never read a Harry Potter book, nor have I seen the movies.
And yet I am still alive. Gasp.

I've never read any of the books (except for a couple pages over a woman's shoulder in the train once, but let's not go into that) but I did see a few of the movies. I've been impressed that Rowling created one of the few recent fantasy worlds that wasn't just heat-n-serve Tolkien. One of these days I'll probably give them a try.

Bought & finished it. It was so much better than the sixth book, and for that I am eternally grateful.

So if enough people have finished the book, I say we turn this into a spoiler thread and talk about it. I know I wanted to discuss it as soon as I finished it, but can't find anyone else in my "real life" who has read it yet.

I'll read it eventually, after it comes out in paperback, or when I can borrow it from a friend.

Okay, SPOILERS!
A few points:
- I enjoyed the book. I think Rowling has successfully transitioned the series from a rather lighthearted, children's adventure into a darker, more meaningful story. The first few books were enjoyable to me in their lighter, quite British style, but this one (and some of the last couple) have seemed to more successfully capture the darkness of Voldemort's plotting and battles.
- I was pleased to see my gut feelings vindicated about Snape for the most part. I did not suspect that he had been involved with Lily other than from a distance, but I think it was pretty obvious that he was ultimately on the side of good. His character would have been nearly pointless if he had been exactly what he seemed from Harry's original point of view. I liked the fact that, in the epilogue, Harry refers to him as perhaps the bravest man he ever knew.
- The ending and downfall of Voldemort was as reasonable as I could expect, and worked well enough, I think. I felt it would have been a bit better if he and Harry had both actually died there, though. When Harry was having his "vision" and talking to Dumbledore, I briefly thought he actually had died there, and the sacrifice that he made at that point resonated so much with me that I feel it would have made a pretty powerful ending there. In a way it almost seemed like a joking cop-out, both satisfying those who felt Harry should die, and those who felt he should live. I was also surprised that it was pretty much only secondary characters (depending on how exactly you would define that) who died.
