There's only a few people in comics who stay dead: - Peter Parker's Uncle Ben I say bring back Uncle Ben! Maybe he secretly couldn't stand Aunt May so he faked his own death, ran off and made a fortune selling rice. Think how disillusioned Peter would be! No no no we can do better than that. Uncle Ben faked his own death so he could pursue his dream of being a gay porn star, and now he's coming back to NY to marry his true love... J. Jonah Jameson. Oh and who will break the news to Peter.. why Ashton Kutcher of course! (while making out with Aunt May) "Hey Spidey you benn punked!"

Peter would probably become the Punisher in that case, with Uncle Ben first on the list.

I always liked the original ending for Spider-Man 3...
Spider-Man: "You killed my Uncle!' Sandman: "No, Peter...I am you're uncle."

I thought the original ending for Spiderman 3 was that the whole cast starts crying and hugging each other for about twenty minutes; and then Stan Lee shoots himself in the head.

That's about what I was thinking - aren't most superheroes in their who-knows-how-manyth incarnation by this point anyway? Cap's had quite a few incarnations too. After Steve Rogers "died" in WWII, there were quite a few people who took up the mantle until he was resurrected in the sixties for the avengers. Don't even get me started on the number of times Wolverine's died. Killing superheroes. Then bringing them back. Ah, a time-honored tradition. As for Captain America, I don't really remember the storyline that much (I'd have to go back and re-read), but I'll always remember a few basic plot points from this issue. To be fair, they didn't kill Rogers in this story arc, I believe. He just quits and they recruit another guy to take over. Actually, I'm pretty sure I liked this issue for the cover alone.

Yeah, if I remember my Marvel comics history, Cpt. America has had at least a couple incidents where he stops being Cap and someone else takes over. He's sort of been a pain in the *** for writers for years. No one ever seems to know what do with him. It's hard to find plausible reasons to be fighting Nazis every few issues in the 21st century.

What, they didn't switch over to Muslim extremists after 9/11?

Didn't they introduce US Agent after this? Or am I thinking of a later comic?

Once this bombs they'll bring back traditional cap sooner or later. Kinda lame actually that Marvel isn't even trying to do anything different. Batman, Superman, Punisher, and Green Lantern have all had essentially the same storyline. Original Hero dies, sales surge -> Replacement hero gets pushed by the company until sales drop -> Original Hero reappears, sales surge again. When did that happen with Batman? Was it before my time? I actually wish that they'd bring back Spoiler. Other than Captain America, Spoiler has had the most unfair death I've ever seen given to a comic character.

They did bring her back... of sorts... but not the original character, just like Cap. Although, I did love how it eventually caused DC to get rid of Black Mask. I hate that douche.

Didn't they introduce US Agent after this? Or am I thinking of a later comic? That's very possible. I seem to remember something with Super Patriot, too, but I could be thinking of a different storyline. I'll have to dig this copy out and actually figure out what the heck I'm talking about.

Oh crap... I saw the mantle come back... I can't remember where... I think it was one of Batsy's buddies... I just can't, for the life of me, remember where...
Crap, this is gonna drive me nuts. Thanks Affy, you've made me not able to sleep. Jerk.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me when Batman died, was replaced by another non-Bruce character, and eventually came back, incidentally...
This isn't referring to the whole "broken back" thing with Bane, is it? That doesn't really count as a death if you ask me...
