www.dvdrhelp.com/All sorts of information and guides. And a forum to ask questions. The best place for digital vid stuff. The only problem is there's so much info you can spend a lot of time there. The short answer is you need something like TMPGenc to covert AVI's to MPEG 2.

The short answer is you need something like TMPGenc to covert AVI's to MPEG 2. I had this same problem, and, my software, the Arcsoft DVD program, will transcode the AVI for you at times, but, a lot of them will be encoded and can't be burned at all. I'm not sure what other programs can do it but, there are programs that convert AVI's to MPEG.2's, which are burnable, but be warned, once converted, the MPEG.2 files will take up about 4 times the disc space of the AVI's, so, you'll want to delete them after you burn them. Hope that helps a little at least, Servo

The quality is not top notch either. I have several DVDs converted from DAP AVI's (not the DAP DVD project) and their not real good. The picture is kind of soft.

I also seem to have some problems with the audio/video synch on some of the ones I've burned from AVI's as well. The sound will be about a second behind the video, which when watching MST3K, can become extremely annoying. Servo

I've noticed some audio sync problems on several DVD Rs. That's the only advantage of VHS tarding, never a sync issue.
