I like it and watch it often. I think it is a solid episode, not among the best but definitely enjoyable throughout. I love the "good and beautiful" speech by the doomed co-pilot. I think the actor drank a quart of Robitussin before shooting that scene.
The only bad thing is all of the tedious expository dialogue explaining the scientific basis for stuff that is going on. That could break anyone watching the movie. And I'm a scientist!
"I'll take a crack at anything once!" "That's all you'll get, Chapman, just one crack." Mike: "All I need, sir."

Mike - "How did I manage to land without that mincing little copilot jabbering about the good and the beautiful?"
hehehe
OH yeah, and that crazy monster thing.

I used to be bored by this episode, but I've watched it about 10 times and love it. My favorite joke is when Servo(?) notices Chapman sounds like Henry Fonda. I laughed like crazy at that, but I don't know why. Just one of those things. The extra crispy chicken/granola jokes are great, too. I'm glad they side stepped the fact that the rocketship looked like a....um..... 'pleasure device'. They had to have noticed that!

I love cheesy 50's sci fi, and the goofy dialogue and special effects, along with the riffing (mainly the dog and chicken riffs) get me rolling.

I like Phantom Planet - but it's not one of my solid favorites. I love the good and the beautiful speech - I wish they'd done it like they did the "He learned too late that man is a feeling creature" from It Conquered the World - both along the same types of speeches.
I love the woman from The Leech Woman and how she would undulate in reaction to the guys messing with the gravity thing. She tought she was a regular Meryl Streep! But I thought the riffing was a little bit slow - I'll have to watch again.

Love this one! I watched it last week.
"These two are bothering me with their lady things". - Servo
"It's a good thing there's so much gravity in outer space". - Mike
"I just floated an air buiscut, I'm out of here." - Crow

I just transferred it to DVD a couple weeks ago and was surprised while watching it again how many of these folks were in other episodes! Francis Bushman was in 12 to the Moon as was the guy who played Arram who was also in Fire Maidens and as was mentioned The Leech Woman gal, and of course Richard Kiel from Eegah and Human Duplicators. Star studded for a MST ep. Oh yeah, and the good and the beautiful Makkonen, he was the Nazi hating Jew from 12 to the Moon.

You'll be amazed at how many there are.

Was he the solarite?

Someone on this board who LIKES science too? What science?!?!?!?!?! I like Phantom Planet, it just doesn't stick out among other ones. I like the shrinking scene. Frank Chapman looks so ugly though, could anyone think he has sex appeal. I'm not gay, I just find him to be real ugly.
