I think I would have thought "This is a good idea, they're just not doing it right." Completely improvising it requires a lot of talent, and frankly, some movies you really need to see about 6 times before you can really come up with some good riffs to. Some of the KTMA shows (like Humanoid Woman) were like this.

Considering that the episodes had a budget of $250 per show, I think they did a good job. Some of them are quite good (K13) in my opinion. But the show definitely got better.
