Most of us who have seen the KTMA's saw them after the fact. Some like them, some not so much. But if you had had access them before you saw the rest of the eps do you think you would have seen the potential? I kind of like them and would like to think I would have been a fan from the start. But I'll never know for sure. So what about you? Yeah, I'm talkin' to you!

IT would probably depend wether the episode was really bad or meh. If it was reallly bad I probably wouldn't have stuck around to see it.

Well, I KINDA did. Sure I was a toddler so I couldn't really comprehend what was going on. But, If I saw KTMA first, I would love the show right away. I love bad movies and they made fun of them. I without a doubt would have liked the show and I would be getting happier as the show got better.

Having only seen bits of the KTMAs, I can't say for sure. I'll bet it would grow on me though.

I don't think I'd pick up too well on the potential. I'd probably say to myself, "This is a funny idea, but these guys aren't very good, and it's not worth watching."
I wouldn't actively watch the KTMA episodes but I'd definitely give the show another watch upon hearing it got picked up on nationally. (Though mostly due to curiousity, and the fact that I'd be proud to have known of the show before it was big, even if I wasn't a real fan.)

I think I would have glommed onto this and enjoyed watching the show grow.
I've always liked film manipulation, sometimes tho I go back and watch the old stuff I liked ("J Men Forever" & "Mad Movies" to name two) and discover it didn't hold up well at all. But at the time I loved them.
I think I'd have looked back and thought, "Why did I like those old (KTMA) shows" and be glad I did because of how it improved.

When watching the K's I tried to put myself in the frame of mind of seeing them without the knowledge of the later shows. Of course you can't do that completely. There was some really good stuff there, it just doesn't compare to later shows. For one thing if I would have seen the K's originally I wouldn't haVe been a kid at the time and I think I would have clued in. I think.

I think I would have been like that guy who called in on K04 and left the message yelling More..More....More!!!! I would have been an instant raving fan! No question about it. I had heard very little about the show prior to my first encounter in December of '93 and the connection was immediate. I was hooked. Although the show definitely got better, I like the old KTMA episodes and beg to differ with the cast that they weren't very good.

I like the KTMAs. (Call me crazy, but I'll take "Phase IV" and "Cosmic Princess" over "Jungle Goddess" and "Hamlet" any day.) Definitely would have been a fan from the start.

I like the KTMA eps. In my opinion, the key is that alot of the movies that were featured were almost watchable without J&TBs, especially the Made For TV filled with 70s TV Stars ones. It makes it feel more like you're watching a movie you might stop and watch as you flip by on a saturday night anyway, now you just have 3 other guys not necessarily any funnier than you randomly throwing out jokes as you go. Also, I really enjoy watching Josh ad-lib. He's very good. He make me laugh alot, and makes Joel laugh alot too.
If I had seen it first, I'd have loved it. It really is a different experience than the later stuff where you care less about the movie, because you're expecting so much from the riffing.

GOOD QUESTION! Part of the answer depends on where my head was at the time. (Short answer: Up my hinder.) Back in '88, I was fresh out of college, unemployed, & living in Milwaukee with my not un-Pearl-like college girlfriend. I would have thought the show weird, but I would have been laughing my butt off too.

I agree with what Unsavory said. Let's face it, the KTMA's were a good idea, but there'd be no hardcore fans. The show would go down in history as a Count Cool midnight horror host show, that's it. Luckily thanks to seasons 1-10 (AND Mike as a head writer) the show became a classic. I disagree, they would have had many hardcore fans but not as much as say in the hey day of RAATM (or RATTM) but in it's peak about as many fans as now. Remember there were over 1000 fans in the club before KTMA ended.
