This edition of the giveaway contest is subtitled: "SAMPO'S FAVORITES". I am giving away my top ten favorite episodes (non-Rhino, of course). These are the DAP versions, so winners will receive a CD-R with the episode as an .avi file, playable on most computers (sorry I don't have the technology for DVDs).
The episodes are: 212- Godzilla vs. Megalon 213- Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster 312- Gamera vs. Guiron 414- Tormented 509- The Girl In Lovers' Lane 510- The Painted Hills 601- Girls' Town 620- Danger! Death Ray 701- Night of the Blood Beast (regular host segs, NOT turkey day) 813- Jack Frost
The giveaway will be based on a quiz format. Following the above theme, there are 5 questions based on 5 of my favorite things. Answer them correctly for points. The higher the score, the better chance of winning. The questions are designed to be difficult, but not impossible- we're on the internet, after all.
THE RULES: 1. PM your answers to me. DO NOT POST ANSWERS IN THIS THREAD! Anyone posting answers in this thread will be automatically disqualified and punished by TORCHA!
2. You must have at least 50 posts to play. I want to reward regular board members.
3. Please indicate which of the 10 episodes you do not already have. That way I can distribute accordingly.
4. One entry per person.
THE QUESTIONS 1. MST3K: Name the high school and college Joel attended.
2. MUSIC: Name the drummer who replaced Ringo for some dates on the Beatles' 1964 European/Australian tour.
3. TV: On "The Simpsons", what is Sideshow Bob's full name? extra credit: What college did Bob's brother attend?
4. MOVIES: In "Back to the Future", what subdivision do the McFlys live in? extra credit: What is the motto of that development?
5. LITERATURE: What Shakespearean play contains the characters Rosalind and Le Beau? extra credit: What is the famous quote from that play and who says it?
6. BONUS ANALOGY SECTION: Panthro : Man-at-Arms :: Snarf : ???

So far I've been getting a good response. No one's answered every question correctly yet, although a couple people came close.
Just a reminder- Please tell me which of the ten episodes you would like.
There are 10 eps total in this giveaway. The highest point getter will get his/her choice of 2 of the 10, and so on until all are gone. In the case of a tie, preference will go to the person who requested an episode that is left.
I hope that makes sense.
I'll reveal the official answers on Saturday. Keep the PMs coming.

Two days left.
There's still hope. No one has gotten all of the questions right yet.
Excellent.

2. MUSIC: Name the drummer who replaced Ringo for some dates on the Beatles' 1964 European/Australian tour. OO! OO! I know, I know! (Oh okay, I wont spill it but I will say, as much as I looove Ringo - this guy was a better drummer. I saw some clips of the tour and damn was he good - really added some zing to those rockin' numbers)

And now the answers:
1. MST3K: Name the high school and college Joel attended.
A quick check of Satellite News will tell you that Joel went to Ashwaubenon High School in Green Bay and Bethel, a small Christian liberal arts college in St. Paul.
2. MUSIC: Name the drummer who replaced Ringo for some dates on the Beatles' 1964 European/Australian tour.
Jimmy Nicol. And as MJ noted, he was very good. George wouldn't really talk to him.
Many people put down "Alan White" as their answer. Alan is one of the few musicians to play with all of the Beatles, but he never played with them as the Beatles. He met John in 1969, who asked him to play a Toronto Festival with John, Yoko, and Eric Clapton. He went on to play on the Imagine album and with the Plastic Ono Band.
3. TV: On "The Simpsons", what is Sideshow Bob's full name? extra credit: What college did Bob's brother attend?
Robert Underdunk Terwilliger. His brother Cecil attended Princeton. Partial credit for everyone who suggested "clown college". That was Bob's opinion of Princeton.
4. MOVIES: In "Back to the Future", what subdivision do the McFlys live in? extra credit: What is the motto of that development?
The subdivision was called "Lyon Estates", and their motto was printed on the billboard behind which Marty hid the DeLorean: "Live in the home of tomorrow...today."
This was tricky, because the town they lived in, "Hill Valley" also had a sign with a motto: "A Nice Place to Live". Quite a few people gave that answer.
5. LITERATURE: What Shakespearean play contains the characters Rosalind and Le Beau? extra credit: What is the famous quote from that play and who says it?
As You Like It. The famous speech is spoken by Jacques: "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts..."
6. BONUS ANALOGY SECTION: Panthro : Man-at-Arms :: Snarf : ?
Only 2 people got this one. It is comparing the character similarities between He-Man and Thundercats. Panthro and Snarf are from the Thundercats and are rip-offs of the He-Man characters Man-at-Arms and Orko.
No one got a perfect score. Which makes me very happy.
Tune in next time for "SAMPO'S OVERLOOKED TEN".

Many people put down "Alan White" as their answer. Alan is one of the few musicians to play with all of the Beatles, but he never played with them as the Beatles. I wonder if they got him mixed up with Andy White who played drums on "Love Me Do"?
