Caution: Editorial type post How did they get to the theater? How did they this? How did they that? There are always threads trying to explain the intricacies of the show premise, and that is what this forum is about but when you get right down to it, but I just don't care. Before anyone jumps on my ass I'm not complaining about those who do, and I'm not going ti quote that line from the theme song but I have always taken it to heart. For me the show premise is just a thin framework to hang the comedy on. Servo's arms don't work, but sometimes he builds stuff, yeah, dwell on it if you like but I'd rather just relax. Really though, the show started just with an excuse to make fun of bad movies and give Joel an outlet for his prop comedy but when it comes to obsessing on the esoteric details, much like Johnny, I just don't care.
There, I said it and I have no regrets, pretty much.

Bravo! Well said....
Not that having a laugh about things like Servo's arms working but they don't isn't fun. They even had a bit about it in Projected Man about Tom making the sound of footsteps with no legs.
But the movie's the thing.
;D

Servo's arm's not working, yet him still able to build things always reminds me of the comic strip "Dilbert." How does Dilbert talk and eat when he has no mouth?
(although, yes MST3K debuted a year before Dilbert did, so I guess it's the other way around.)
It was also established in season nine's Werewolf, that Crow's arms don't work either, even though in some episodes like SST Death Flight and The Projected Man, Crow's arms clearly work and can move.

Well I just grabbed the Servo thing as a random example. I was definitely not trying to start a debate about that. In fact that is exactly the opposite of the opinion I was giving. I do want to emphasize that I am not mocking anyone who picks apart the details of the premise. Knock yourselves out. I just don't worry about it. And I would guess The Brains didn't either. But how did those bots build all that stuff? No, no, stop it!

I just assumed the people who made those threads were having a little bit of fun by mocking the very idea in the theme song....so I think it's fun....but if YOU want to take it seriously, go ahead. Knock yourself out....

Thank you, phantom, for repeating the idea they put in the theme song since the first episode.

So what is this about Phantom's arms not working?!? On the one hand, yes it's just a show. Relax. On the other hand, bite me! It's fun! Sometimes it's fun to speculate about said subjects. It's interesting to see how far someone's imagination can take them (not to get all Doug Henning on y'all.) I think the real question is, do these questions belong in General Chat? Are they MST3K-related? Yes. Do they fall within the original intent of General Chat? Probably not. Since Forrest has already done some re-working on CFF to include a movie sub-section, maybe something like this should be considered for General Chat. I've noticed on a number of occasions newbies posting their innapropriate questions in the middle of General Chat. I've done it. Others have as well. Maybe sub-sections for G.C. should be considered by the Mads. Just a thought.

I think everyone makes threads like "How do they get into the theater" due to, in the words of Joel "Oh bite me, it's fun!"

Phantom, to be honest, what else are we gonna talk about? Favorite episode? Been there! Joel vs. Mike? Done that. Might as well talk about it.
Plus, I don't think anyone really CARES. No one is losing sleep over how Joel got into the theater, or going in a think tank to figure out how Mike's jump suit doesn't fade. But if you don't really care, why are just posting about it? No one is making you go and read those threads. No one is making you reply. No one is making you start the threads. So why should you care?

About the bots' arms not working, yet them still able to build stuff, how about this theory:
The bots PRETENDED to not have good arms, so they could be more dependent on Joel and Mike for things. In other words, they were being lazy.
Just like how Servo's hoverskirt couldn't carry him over the air grate near the theater. At least that's what SERVO says. We've still seen him get into the theater on his own dozens of other times. Servo is just lazy.
For the record, in THE CRAWLING EYE, Joel makes a comment when they enter the theater after the first host segment, "I'm putting some wheels on you!" in response to him carrying Servo into the theater. It's funny because Joel either forgot to install wheels on Servo, or he just never got around to it!

Did you take this as an angry rant? I'm not losing sleep over it, I hope you don't. I didn't say anyone shouldn't talk about it. It was just something I was thinking of and I posted an opinion. That's OK isn't it? I said right up front "editorial type post." And if someone disagrees they can say so, if someone agrees they could say "yeah, me too." You see, it's a discussion board. I defy you to quote anything I said that's trying to tell people not to go into such things. It's just my outlook. And if no one cares, that's fine with me too. You should really just relax.
