Did the Clonus guys win, when they sued "The Island" guys? I never heard about the result of the whole thing

I guess I'll field this one. They lost the injunction. Of course, that's why I'm seeing all these damn commercials advertising that the Bay film is available, or will be shortly, on DVD. Last I heard from Myrl Schreibman, about a month ago, they were going ahead with the suit as the judge felt it had merit so did not dismiss it. I'll keep you all posted in this thread when I hear anything more.

Damn right it has merit! I haven't even seen the Island, but I know it's the same story. Booya.

We all know that, but it hasn't slowed the Bay machine.

Ya know, I was just wondering about this myself the other day when those commercials wouldn't stop. Not to mention reading all the magazine's ratings of the DVD.

Ya know, I THOUGHT that "The Island" sounded similar, back when I first saw a commercial for it. I was like, "Wait a minute, isn't this the same as that one MST3K episode?" However, I didn't know that there _was_ an actual lawsuit over it until now. Ah, the things you learn on this board...

And the best part is, "parts: the clonus horror" was recently released on DVD as well (under the title "Clonus"), so suspicious folks can actually compare the two for themselves.

Mr. Schreibman made that very point in a recent email.

It's funny, I was thinking about this yesterday. I was listening to a podcast about Star Trek (I know - **nerd alert**) and the host was talking about he thought the Island was similar to Logan's Run......I was just thinking - "Wow you couldn't be more wrong if you tried"
This gentleman has apparently never seen Clonus
PS...Hey 100th post......I'm Toblerone.....YES!!

Ooh, that reminds me - I need to rent The Island to do some comparison viewing. I went to see The Island in theaters (I hope that doesn't make me a bad person), and there REALLY aren't that many differences, but off the top of my head: -Clonus refers to the "faraway" place as America, while in The Island they refer to it as The Island (duh.) -different character names (of coarse) -the leading female character is more involved in the plot of The Island, than she was in Clonus. -Neither one of the main characters die. -There's no twit played by peter Graves that's running for president and tries to make some kind of stand against cloning. -The man who is the source of the hero's clone does not have a son in The Island. -Also, the clone source doesn't turn against his clone in Clonus, like he does in The Island. Here are a few similarities: -The plot of runaway clones. -In both films, the hero's clone source meets untimely fates. -Basically The Island has a "happier ending" then Clonus did.

Think about this: If it weren't for MST, would the guy who made Clonus even put up a fuss?
