The film alone on Spider Island isn't bad, but the master itself for the episode was pretty trashed up (all those awful tape hits, man).

I honestly thought the copy of Spider Island they used on the show was from a worn out VHS tape.

A lot of times they were at the mercy of whatever print was given to them. I remember some reviewer tearing the show a new one because they didn't use the version of Godzilla Vs Megalon that was available in HD quality. Give me a break.

Yeah, cause HD totally existed back in the early 90's.

If I recall from that same episode, HD was available in Japan according to Servo.

Yeah, cause HD totally existed back in the early 90's. Analog HD did exist in the 80's even, (I know of at least one feature film and a tv movie shot on early HD videotape) but it was a limited experimental thing at the time. Japan started analog HD broadcasts in 1989, and the Laserdisc format had an HD cousin in the 90's, (also only in Japan) but the industry in the U.S. was nowhere near being HD capable yet, let alone our favorite cow town puppet show.

You know, come to think of it...
I wonder if Toho is the reason FVI went bankrupt to begin with? I can't possibly imagine the foreign companies for Cave Dwellers and Pod People being mad that their movies were taken. Maybe CBS for Stranded in Space and Master Ninja and possibly Columbia with Marooned.

Maybe CBS for Stranded in Space and Master Ninja and possibly Columbia with Marooned. FVI already went bankrupt before they got their hands on those films. In fact, their questionable "repackaging" tactics were the only thing keeping them afloat. I do wonder if Toho knew about their version of Sea Monster.

Because notundercovercop will most likely want to know, these are the licences given on the new Season 11 set. I don't have a set yet, and these are from photos I saw at another forum. I can correct the one I can't make out later on if nobody else does first.
Reptilicus, Time Travelers, Beast of Hollow Mountain, Land That Time Forgot, Yonggary, and At the Earth's Core are MGM. Avalanche, Starcrash, Wizards of the Lost Kingdom, and Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II are Vista International. The Christmas That Almost Wasn't is illegible so far, but it says "C......... Corporation." Loves of Hercules is Shout Factory (smart asses).
Cry Wilderness and Carnival Magic are unlisted.

I've just been corrected that it's Visto International and not Vista.
Christmas That Almost Wasn't is Chinitel Corporation.

Wait, upon re-inspection there seems to be a mistake. The outside box claims that Avalanche, Starcrash, and Wizards 1&2 are Visto, but the interior case claims those four are New Horizons while Cry Wilderness is Visto.

Like I said in "Updates on Swag", I'm surprised Visto is still around since they haven't made anything in decades.

My OCD is satiated. Carnival Magic is probably Krypton Int.
