I've always loved how a lot of the time, during host segments, they just don't care about continuity between SOL and Deep 13 / wherever Pearl is scenes. Or how one side seems to be paying no attention to what the other is saying or doing.
Examples:
In The Thing That Couldn't Die when the Observers are talking about experimenting on the SOL crew, one of them says "Do you think the orbiting ones heard us?" then we see Mike on the satellite vacuuming and paying no attention. The next time it cuts back to the SOL Mike is back with the robots where he usually stands.
In Escape 2000 when the SOL is set on fire and everyone is panicking and screaming "We're all gonna die!" it cuts down to Deep 13 and Dr. Forrester just says "Thank you for those kind words."
Well, I thought it was funny.

I think it's one of those things just to show how sadistic Forrester is. Like how Pearl can be so easily reassured by someone (say, Observer in Phantom Planet) by being told that she is despised and wished dead. Hearing Mike and the bots dispair over their impending doom makes Dr. F all warm inside. It's still funny.

I liked the thing like this in Soultaker when Frank looks like he notices the plight of the failing SOL, but instead is just enthralled by how delicious his Gordita is.

I was mostly disappointed by his (and Joel's) guest appearances, but I loved this little slice of classic Frank. ;D That's more of a misdirection, I think, than a continuity issue. Sorry to nitpick.

Please nitpick. I'm sorry but I don't think any of this really has to do with continuity.

A lot of the continuity goofs are done simply for the comedy affect that they have on the show. This is my favorite continuity glitch, copied from mst3kinfo: In [K05], Joel said that he "raided the movie library" and found "the original Gamera," giving the impression that he, Joel, decided what movies they watch. I guess the show never explained it, but if you want to make up something it's very easy to think that the mads realized that they couldn't conduct the experiment properly that week, since both of the bots were broken. So they let Joel pick the movie one time. Or another similar explanation. Or they made him say it, for some bizare reason. Or Joel was speaking out of character (he's done that during KTMA, hasn't he?)
