Bonfiregal here on the "Left" Coast asking New York MST members what the city is doing, or they themselves, are doing to commemorate 9/11. Can we make this thread a reflective one in memory of all those who didn't see their next morning?

Pretty much the same as the last two years. There will be a memorial ceremony in the morning at the site, where they will read out the names of the people who died.
At sundown, the "Tribute in Light" will be turned on.

It's two beams of light that shine up where the WTC stood. Its actually pretty cool. Maybe someone can put up a picture of it.

Haven't decided yet. Either I'm going to Peace Action Milwaukee's 9/11 Gathering for Truth...or I'm going to Rocky Horror. Or both if I am lucky!

I live on the Upper East side of Manhattan, and I'm probably not going to be doing anything special for it. I can't watch those memorials, they just depress me...

Probably nothing. It's weird how vivid your memory is of that day...

Probably nothing. It's weird how vivid your memory is of that day... As someone from Boston, I'm feeling about the same as Night on this one. Having had both planes leave from my backyard, knowing a person who were supposed to be on one of said planes, and knowing some who did, and some who didn't, make it out of the towers, it remains a surreal day for me. Though I am contemplating driving down to NYC anyway.

Though I am contemplating driving down to NYC anyway. The effect it had on school was huge. The hallways were clogged with kids calling their parents in the city, everyone was angry and confused. The shock didn't really set in until the next day. I was lucky enough to not have any relatives harmed. The dust from the crash was a bad reminder the next day.

I was at work when it happened. Somebody came up to us and told us all about it ( I didn't believe it at first). We stopped working and turned on the radio. That was when the second tower was hit. I felt the same way as everybody else here confused, sad, and most of of all outraged. In fact, I still am. Anyway, I didn't feel like working so I went home and called my relatives. Luckily, everyone was alright.
I dont think I'm going to do anything tomorrow. I'll probably just stay home and drink a few beers.

Going to remember those lost and carry on. I lost fellow collegues who ran into the burning towers and never returned.
All gave some. Some gave all.
I think to honor those lost in NYC, the Pentagon and those brave souls who fought back on that ill-fated flight is to never forget.
Never forget.

Thanks for that picture of the Tribute in Light cornjob. I had never seen that. Quite moving. Yes, Cornjob...thank you. And thanks to all who posted. I know this site doesn't have much solemnity in the threads but this tragedy affected us all, close to NY or far away. West Coast was all shut down, so weird not to see any planes fly overhead. Too bad we don't have a "No Fly Day" to commemorate 9/11.
