After recently getting digital cable I now have BBC America. So I've finally seen a couple of episodes of The Office. My question to fans of the show is, did you like it right away or did it have to grow on you? So far it doesn't do much for Me. Maybe it was over-hyped. I was also disappointed to find it suffers from SCS (Shaky Camera Syndrome). I can't tell you how tired I am of scripted shows using a hand held camera to try and give it a pseudo-documentary feel. I'll catch a few more episodes and see if I warm up to it but so far I gotta say I'm not real impressed.

Watch 'em from the start. Season 1 is better than 2.
I loved it from the first show. laughed hard and frequently.

My question to fans of the show is, did you like it right away or did it have to grow on you? Had to grow on me. I also heard all the hype and rented the Season One DVD. After the 1st ep, I was scratching my head, but by the "guitar playing" episode, I was hooked. It just got better and better after that. I definitely recommend seeing the episodes in order, because the show builds on previous episodes for the two short Seasons until the great wrap-up in the two-part Special.

Since I'm catching them on BBC America I just have to watch in whatever order they appear. I'll check it out some more though.

The sequence of the show is critical.

The first time I watched it I just happened upon it. It was the episode with the "Free love on the freeway" (or something like that) song. I was hooked from then. I have since caught it from the start and watched it thru.

I was sold when I saw the pilot.
David Brent: "This guy does the best Ali G impression....Oh wait, that's the other one."
LOL Definitely watch it from the start.

And I always relate him to a job I had years ago, when I worked in a place with a David Brent-like manager who was always - and I mean always - trying to crack jokes. Fine and dandy, but the problem was we never knew when he was trying to be serious. I liked the manager, though, but after I was there about a year, there was an upper management change and the new boss didn't like the guy, so he was unceremoniously forced out. I guess he got a package because he stayed retired afterwards instead of finding a new job elsewhere.

I actually rented the first season and watched it, and I loved it from the start. Really one of the funniest things I ever saw (other than MST, natch), it had me literally rolling on the floor laughing, with tears running down my face. Of course, I've always been a big fan of British comedy. Anyway, then I bought the first season, then the second, then the Christmas special.
David Brent is hilarious, but I love the stuff with Tim and Gareth too.

Oh yeah, Brent is brilliant but without Tim and Gareth it wouldn't have been as funny. Perfect casting, those 2 really cemented my love for the show.
