I don't do pot but I have a friend who does, and I bet he'll think this is cool. Also, this means Netflix is still giving the revival some attention, so this bodes well for getting a season 12.

I just heard back from FartingLion, and unfortunately, it appears that K03 is not among the tapes here. He just got an email from his brother and "It is indeed just the redone version from Season 3 which we apparently have two times and wrongly sorted in." Ah poopie. Still, this is likely the closest anyone has gotten to finding those first 2 episodes at least, and he says he'd still be glad to share what he has with the fans.

Yeah, I was thinking of sharing there after we got more info, but I guess I could do it sooner. I assume they still read their emails? Possibly, but they seem to be on auto-pilot nowadays. Alrighty, just sent an email. I asked since I'm not on twitter right now and wanted to be sure Sampo could see it.

Pass this along to MST3KInfo. Even if Sampo is a curmudgeon, he might be interested in covering this. Yeah, I was thinking of sharing there after we got more info, but I guess I could do it sooner. I assume they still read their emails?

My fellow MSTies, I bear good news. I just met someone whom I strongly believe has taped recordings of the first KTMA episodes, probably even the last missing K03!
A couple days ago, someone who goes by the name FartingLion contacted me based on my interest of MST3K. We hit things off pretty well and I could tell he was also a big fan, but then he casually asked me if I would be interested in having the first 3 KTMA episodes. Of course I just thought he was joking, but he was actually serious. Apparently his brothers taped lots of stuff from KTMA, and the tapes he has were recorded over the air back in 1988 Minneapolis, which is what got him and his bros hooked on the show. Honestly he didn't know just how big a deal these tapes are, since he hasn't been too active in the MST3K fandom.
He is positive he has the first 2 episodes on tape based on the titles, though he can't fully confirm the 3rd one just yet since he doesn't have access to them right now, but he told me he does remember seeing K03 when going through the whole series a few years ago so he probably has it somewhere. He's currently living in Germany (for university studies I believe), but he said he'll be flying back to Minneapolis in a couple weeks, then he can be sure K03 is the real deal (and not the season 3 redo), and then share it and the other tapes with the world. He also told me he has a first-gen recording of K04, which might also be of interest since I've heard that one doesn't have any fresh copies.
I know this all might sound hard to believe, but I can tell this guy is legit. Should have more to share in two weeks time! I've also invited the guy to join this forum, so expect him show up here soon and you can bombard him with questions then.
WHAT DO YOU THINK, SIRS???

KILL IT WITH FIRE! But really, that thing looks just plain scary. Perhaps if they inverted the concept and made a gold-colored Servo, it'd look marginally better.

I wouldn't write off the deleted scenes unless someone in the know says the actual film was tossed. It may have been been outside the budget of the Blu Ray release to physically track that stuff down and scan all of it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Shout doesn't do it's own film mastering. I presume the movie was scanned in HD already as part of Universal upgrading it's back catalog. If they still exist, the deleted scenes are either in a vault at Universal somewhere, (hopefully not the one that burned down a few years back) or in one of the many boxes Shout got from Best Brains. Yeah, this is what I was thinking too. They have occasionally been involved in big restorations (e.g. The director's cut of Night Breed) but maybe Shout just didn't have the money or resources to get The Movie's film elements for a director's cut at the time. I'm hoping if they still exist, they could perhaps take a crack at it sometime.

I wonder if maybe down the road, if Shout wants to release more material, they could also try to get a director's cut of The MST3K Movie made. Provided of course, the original film elements still exist somewhere, which I hope they do.

Can't say I didn't see it coming, but yeah, I guess we're finally at the end of the line for MST3K sets. 11 unreleased episodes is certainly nothing to sneeze at though, I'm proud of Shout for being able to release the amount of box sets that they did! Hoping we get some good extras so they can end this on a high note.

I've just heard from a colleague of mine who went to a show that Joel said he thinks one of the live shows could be coming to Netflix. That would be awesome if true, and it would help make up for the SLC cancelation which I'm still bummed about.

This was posted elsewhere but it was just announced yesterday that the show in Salt Lake City, Utah has been cancelled "due to unforseen circumstances". That's the show I got tickets for, so I'm super bummed about it to say the least. However I'm also hearing from a few other folks that the cancelation may have been because of low ticket sales. Wouldn't surprise me if that's really the case since MST3K doesn't seem to be that popular around here. Shame really.

I'm also in Utah and had tickets for Salt Lake, was notified about this too. I'm super disappointed, was really looking forward to seeing this show.
