Ahh, good news. My copy of Volume 2 is well-worn and looking forward to being replaced by this new, shelf space-friendly version.
Although I have to say: With most of the shorts already out on other Volumes, I was kind of hoping for the fourth slot to be filled by something like Santa Claus Conquers the Martians or Eegah or I Accuse My Parents or some other "orphaned" Rhino release.

1962's Journey to the Seventh Planet is getting a Blu-ray release from Kino Lorber. That one would be wonderful for season 11, if indeed it is licensable.
I just hope they don't go for what the German offshoot of MST3K does. (The team that did a German dub for the 1996 MST3K movie now has a show called SchleFaZ, short for Schlechteste Filme aller Zeiten - The Worst Films of All Time.) Every second film they take on is something like Sharknado - films that are intentionally (maybe even cynically) bad. That, to me, betrays the purity of riffing films that were made with the best of intentions but had the misfortune to fail.

I agree. Toho's a big company that will be around for years. Susan Hart is my grandma's age. So her movies have a chance of being released eventually, depending on the attitude of her heirs. And let's face it, Wade Williams is no spring chicken either at age 73. Not that I wish him any ill.

Am I alone in thinking that the phenomenal success of the recent Kickstarter campaign brought even larger dollar signs to Wade Williams' eyes? (And maybe Susan Hart's as well?)

I'm still insanely happy about the result of the revival campaign. (I'm expecting a continuation and can't bring myself to call it a reboot.)
This has been the most awful of my 37 years on this planet - and the return of the Satellite of Love has drowned many a bad thought in warm, fuzzy, happy and christmassy gunk.
Good times.

If this ends up getting excess funding I hope it goes into the budget for licensing unreleased episodes. Yes, I'd like that very much. However, this more or less only appeals to us hardcode MSTies - I doubt it would go down well with the more casual backers if the money doesn't go towards rewards or the new episodes. ("Thanks for the extra money, we'll use it to get DVD content you have to buy from Shout.")

Just think about this for a minute: If every backer drops an extra $11, we're home. Wow.

Yeah, now we're roughly 15,000 away, and chances are most -perhaps even all- of that has already been filled with add-on rewards. Won't know for sure until Joel updates later, but we still have an hour to go. I have a good feeling. Add to that the $5000 that were pledged probably the same monent you hit "Create Post". Yay!

I don't know why twenty minutes ago we started getting a flood of small pledges - but I like it and it looks like we'll make the challenge.

This may have been brought up, but if Joel really wanted to make some extra money, they should offer some KTMA episodes as an exclusive download for say $500 pledges and up. How many old school fans would open their wallets for that? Especially those who don't like the idea of a reboot. Perhaps this is one of the new rewards Joel is going to announce today (was it today?). Better yet: A pledge category that gets you the new episodes on Blu-ray/DVD as well as all available/licensable KTMAs in an additional DVD set. I'd pledge the hell out of that.

Someone took the 3rd 25K tier reward! Under the table $ is now 55K! Plus whatever the shop over at mst3k.com made so far. Suddenly, $3.3 million at midnight today seems possible again.

Production-wise it may be good, but it doesn't lower the $5.5 million bar. In fact, it makes it harder to reach. Also, we're losing more than $15 per person. The shipping cost you have to pay factors into the overall amount pledged. I do understand your worry, so far there are 228 @ $85 and 6048 @ $100
As a brit I am still keep mine on the physical even though I will have to pay VAT (20%) and customs charge on it Oh yes, I'm very much getting the Blu-ray set as well - and for us Krauts the import fees are a whopping 23%. (Add to that the U$D to €UR exchange rate that rose 20% in the throes of Grecian financial mishap.) Although the $60 "Back in Time" Blu-ray I received the other day from that particular Kickstarter campaign just happened to slip by the authorities. Maybe it helped that they omitted the value on the envelope.

I dreaded it when people asked for it - and now I'm certain the $85 download-only option was a bad idea. Quite a number of $100 pledges have slipped down to $85. The trend is continuing. In one sense it is a bad idea as loss of $15 from the total, but in another way it is good for production, as there is no physical reward costs.
Does that make sense?

When I bought Vols. 3 and 8 off of eBay, the digipacks arrived without the outer sleeve. If you were to ship these folded flatly to Germany, I'd certainly take them off your hands and appreciate them greatly!
