Honestly, Wade just sounds like he's not very fond of Mst3k mocking the film, so while he might allow Shout to release the film on its own, he might not be willing to allow the MST version on home video. That's just the idea I'm getting from him anyway. If only he'd realise MST may seem like they're only deriding the films but they're also paying homage to them and introducing them to a new audience. I adore MST for what it is - but as a lover of forgotten films, they've really broadened my horizon as well.

I think the best solution for everybody would be to remaster the film and have Shout release a nice edition of it with the MST3K version among the special features. And not put it in any of the volume sets.
That way, the film is given its due honor - and a proper version of the MST3K episode is out there.
Same goes for the Hart-owned titles. Those could even be a boxed set, a la Shout's Vincent Price stuff.
I'd buy that in a second, both for cleaned-up transfers of the films themselves and of course for the MST3K eps.

[...] Since last December I have had offers on MARS and other titles from major distributors CRITERION- KINO- ARROW, TWILIGHT TIME-OLIVE and SHOUT FACTORY. None came thru. [...] My library has and is available for licensing ! I am NOT hoarding anything. wade williams He has approached Shout Factory about licensing "Invaders from Mars" at least. Hopefully we'll hear more from him once the MSTiecast interview with him is uploaded. It does not sound like he was the approacher rather than the approachee. The companies he mentions are the usual suspects for proper releases of older niche/genre films. If anybody is both skillful and reasonable when it comes to those kinds of releases, it's these guys. Mr. Williams seems curiously vague about the "none came thru" part. More and more I feel like the biggest issue with licensing any of his features may be disproportionate asking prices. Oh, and a Happy New Year to all of you. New MST3K is just around the corner!

If it finally comes down to a handful of episodes with no hope of an official release, maybe a concerted effort could be made to locate the best fan copies of each show? Then someone with the technical skills could combine and restore the best elements of each fan copy, (video and sound) into a final version that's as good as can possibly be. I have six of the unreleased episodes preserved on DVD, (201, 213, 311, 416, 418, 623) transferred straight from my original off air Super VHS tapes, (better quality than regular VHS) and would gladly make copies available to anyone who could use them in such a project. There already is such a project at mst3k.co.uk - and if you were to make your S-VHS transfers available to them, maybe they'd consider upgrading their offerings.

Technical question... The update says to "just log into your VHX account" - and I don't know and where and how. I have a feeling I missed doing something months ago. (I backed the Kickstarter at the $200 Blu-ray level.)

My guess is on...
623: The Amazing Transparent Man 913: Quest of the Delta Knights
Plus any two of the nine standalones (The Crawling Hand; The Hellcats; Eegah; I Accuse My Parents; Santa Claus Conquers the Martians; The Wild, Wild World of Batwoman; Beginning of the End; Red Zone Cuba; Manos). Preferably the first five, which haven't been released by Shout so far.

So now season 9 with three unreleased episodes has the most episodes left to be released. Seasons 2, 3, 4, and 8 all have two unreleased episodes each while seasons 6 and 10 only have one unreleased episode each. Season 6 will still have two unreleased episodes, 601 and 623. Otherwise, yeah.

A beautiful and clever set - as someone who is both an AFOL and a MSTie, I backed this in a second. Joel should consider plugging it in the Kickstarter updates. I wonder if he's aware of the project.

Heck, I'd gladly PayPal the cost of set XXXVI plus shipping to Germany plus some extra $ to have two brewskies over to anybody who'd set me up with the genuine DVDs... I'd be willing to help you out. Thank you, kind sir! You've just received a PM.

It's a shame that as a non-American, I won't be able to get the bonus disc. Shout doesn't ship here...

I finally got around to watching the wonderful It Was a Colossal Teenage Movie Machine documentary. A veritable love letter to the work of the late James H. Nicholson. Is it just me, or might Shout be buttering up a certain widow...

Another wonderful volume ahead!
Anybody else notice we now have two huge, consecutive, 28-episode swathes of officially released experiments? 312-415 and 421-524 - all out on DVD.
Wow. A few years back, this never seemed likely.

I might have to save up for this one. I love Cave Dwellers, and Pod People is one of the biggest classics that I still haven't seen. And I'd *love* to finally see some MST3K Hour segments. Indeed. Those two episodes are bona fide classics, well worth the double dip. And if you haven't seen Pod People yet, you're in for an absolute, incoherent treat!

I kind of feel the same way, perhaps even The Giant Gila monster would have been cool, or some shout select title ? That would have been nice as well. Preferably one of those three that wasn't included in a Volume release later on.
