Personally, I think the critic just needs to lighten up. That snide MST3K remark not only proves the unprofessional writing of the review, but it also proves that the critic is somewhat arrogant; it's not like the MST3K crew are the only ones bashing the film.

Personally, I think the critic just needs to lighten up. That snide MST3K remark not only proves the unprofessional writing of the review, but it also proves that the critic is arrogant and childish; it's not like the MST3K crew are the only ones bashing the film. I wouldn't exactly say that. He's entitled to his own opinion of hating the show, just like we are for loving it. MST3K's bound to come up in many reviews of the movies that were turned into an episode, and more often than you think, it's about someone complaining that the movie wasn't half bad and claiming how much they hate the show. Snide comments aren't uncommon in reviews, often comparing films to others. I myself have taken a 2x4 to Batman Returns a lot when I'm reviewing any superhero movie, whether the movie reminded me of it or not. Why? Well, it's fun, quite frankly, cause the movie sucks so hard (See? I did it again!). But MST3K is a shoe in for anybody who's even seen the show and wants to review a movie about a movie featured on it. Whether it's positive or negative, is up to them. Let them enjoy their tedious and repetitive episodes of Will & Grace, I sit back and watch something that I find funny.

Of course negative comments are fine in a review (it's by definition an expression of opinion). But my problem with it is that he doesn't explain why MST is bad. I infer that he thinks that if MST riffs on a film he likes, then it's therefore bad. But the single comment makes a good point...that parodies can be of things good or bad.
His reaction to MST just makes me think he didn't really pay any attention to "our" show.

He also may have unfortunatly been exposed only to some of the latter episodes, which we all know, aren't quite up there in the "intelligent riff per minute" (IRPM) range. And, like most people, he may have only seen 20 minutes of an episode. Come in at the middle and gotten a slew of "stupid riffs".
Perhaphs he's only seen Hamlet, causing his hatred.
Anyways, he's just a close-minded person.
