Interesting Interview. Yeah, this is wrong. Fiveson and his crew deserve credit. Even if "Clunus" was a weird movie, they still should get some recognition. Winning this lawsuit would be great.
Although I'm sure after all this mess is cleared, Hollywood will probably release a new "film law" like they did after Crispon Glover sued Back to the Future. Only in this case, it would be "When you come up with an idea for a movie, MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH WELL ENOUGH AND SEE THAT YOU AREN'T RIPPING SOMEONE ELSE OFF!
The fact that Jeff Katzenberg is behind all this doesn't surprise me.

Over the years, I've seen a number of lawsuits spring up with someone claiming that his/her idea was stolen and used in a movie. Most of those lawsuits were frivolous, and the plaintiff lost. However, now that I've seen The Island, this lawsuit has a lot of merit. A whole lot. In fact, if this goes through the whole trial process, I'd be shocked if Clonus director Robert Fiveson didn't win the case. I think an settlement will be made, though.

Well, in somewhat good news it appears that The Island is looking to become a big flop box office wise

Hi Its me the infamous Fiveson of Clonus fame. A couple of good friends of mine turned me on to your discussions of my travails and I noticed someone posted a question wondering what I thought of all your interest, comments and support... I think its amazingly great and I am eternally grateful. You know when the movie was selected to be on MST2000 I was reluctant for a nano second because I knew what it meant (kind of like coming home and finding a 6o minutes film crew in your living room). But then I realized it was actually quite an honor because it meant the film had a life in contemporary America (the good one) as well. They also paid me. LoL. Next week we will be filing for a federal injunction to try and stop the DVD distribution. This is an MST board scoop because otherwise I am low keying it. I wouldn't want S. K - or G sending some stunt-men to arrange my untimely death. I suspect the DVD will become increasing important to them as this whole movie implodes under its own weight. Though in fairness I snuck in to see it two nights before it opened and I thought the first third was like watching my movie with an extra 120k - the rest was sort of pointless but well done. That chick is a babe for sure. The support has been amazing. I look at this like a simple DNA test. We have a judge or jury look at the two. I have a list of 63 striking similarities. If the genetic markers line up we do the math on likelihood or probabilities of coincidence or randomness. If I fail - I lose - If they fail, they lose. Real simple. If I win anything over a million I will host a party for the MST board. I swear. Feel free to write me if you have any thoughts or questions. And again - thanks for the support, you guys are some of the only real intelligence in the INTERNET universe. Oh one last thing. Bob Sullivan the guy who's idea it was and I spoke tonight - he said imagine if we did the Island in 79 and Clonus came out today - they would certainly be suing us!!!

I hope you get every penny, Mr. Fiveson. As a matter of principle, I never see anything Michael Bay directs. I'm glad it flopped. I actually enjoyed watching your movie on MST3K, it was certainly nowhere near the kind of movies I'm used to.

If I win anything over a million I will host a party for the MST board. I swear. Don't do that. Save it for the sequel. Bonus Clonus.

Or to bypass the rights issues involved with bringing the Clonus MST3K episode to DVD! ;D

Parts was the first ep I ever recorded and I always said it was a good premise. Creepy, no doubt. And the discovery channel even used scenes from it on a clone special they had. I bet that's where these Hollywood Hacks got the idea to remake this movie without consent....from THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL!!! You see??? They think they're teaching but they ruin! Only ruin!!!!
Good luck on your quest, Mr. Fiveson...oh by the way, I talked with all the members on the board and they said if you get a million, don't waste it on all of us, take whatever money the party would've cost and just send it to me........you believe me, right?........
