Unfortunately, even the VHS versions of the non-special edition star wars movies ARE different from the original theatrical release. All changes can be found here. As for plan 9, I have a feeling that I'll be getting it for Christmas, though I'd like to have it as soon as possible.

Eh, I have the Star Wars DVDs (of course). Some of the additions I liked (the Jabba scene in Ep. IV, for example), but I would like to be able to watch it without all the extra fiddling, too. Which is why I like DVDs like this Plan 9 edition - it has both versions for your enjoyment.
(See, I can be on topic - I really can.)

I watched the colorized "Plan 9" with Mike's commentary tonight. I am not a great reviewer like some folks here and I am too lazy to type an in-depth review. So I'll keep it short.
I have a soft spot of this movie. The first DVD I ever bought was "Plan 9." My opinion of the movie itself is that it is classic. I think the print is excellent and the colorization is very well done. The B&W version is also included for you purists.
Mike's commentary is very good. I found it distracting that he sometimes speaks over the dialog. I guess there is no choice because this is such a dialog laden flick.
The bottom line is I enjoyed it and am really glad that Legend has released these films with Mr. Nelson's commentary. If they continue to release them, I will continue to buy them.

I watched the B&W version of Plan 9 with Mike's commentary. I like the option that you can watch the original or the colorized with Mike this time. I really enjoyed it too. I guess when I switch on the commentary I expect to have some of the dialogue covered up, but I agree sometimes it distracts. Of course, all the dialogue is one of the reasons Best Brains alwasy gave for not wanting to riff Plan 9. Jaus too darn hard to fit in the jokes.
The extra of Mike presenting the failed Plans 1-8 was pretty good too.
I hope Legend Films keeps 'em coming. This is some of the best stuff we've seen (or heard) from any of the ex-Brains.

Hey - No mention of the alien air freshener? We did extensive research to determine what aliens smell like Barry

Nice! I gotta see this.
Hopefully Mike will keep doing these. I'd really like him to do commentary for "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" (old version of course)--which, strangely enough, is not available on DVD. Classic bad movie, and Allison Hayes is pretty easy on the eyes.

Oh yeah Shep, I'd love that one as well. One of Kalis' best posters too. But I find it funny that people are distracted by Mikes commentary. I guess I just don't harbor much warmth for many of these old turds, especially Ed Wood's stuff. "Distract me Mike - dear God in heaven, please distract me!"

I have two copies on the way-one for me, one for my roommate.

Ok, I have to bump this old thread to find out if anyone sees what I see right around minute 31 of this movie. Haven't checked the b&w it's definatley in the color version. I'll wait to describe it in case some of you want to find it on your own.
Hint: It's NOT like the quick one frame of "420" spliced into Reefer Madness. It's actually there for several seconds.

What the hell was that? Should I know those people?
*It's not in the b&w version.*
