I wonder how well the rifs really translate into German. Remember the beer commercial that featured the German standup comedian? The joke was that he had absolutely no sense of humor. "Sank you. I veel be here all za veek" Beißen Sie mich! How did that translate?

I thought Crow was singing a WWI (allied) song, "Its a long way, to Tipararee (sp)..." No wonder the Germans changed it. Yeah... remember Crow's "We must confound Jerry at every turn"? Those lines would have to be deep-sixed for their audiences. I have a multi-region DVD, but I can't mess with PAL; unless they do NTSC in Germany, I assume this thing is not up my alley?

I've been keeping an eye out for the DVD, but it hasn't been released yet, as far as I can tell. As soon as it does, I'll get a copy and write a review for anyone who's interested.

A release date has been set! Amazon.de has it listed as April 6th. It appears as if you'll be able to watch it in either English or German. The cost: 17.99 Euros (if you want to order it from the States, it'll probably end up being about thirty with the exchange rate and shipping costs). I'm pre-ordering now. As soon as I've seen it, I'll put up a review in "Rowsdower".

Wow, today was a MST delivery day. I just got the German rls of "MST: The Movie" and the Mike Signature "Plan 9" (gotta love the Plan 9 air-freshener) & "Reefer Madness". I haven't watched "The Movie" yet, but I'm definitely liking it better than my original copy. First off it's in Anamorphic Widescreen. Second, it comes with a second disc with the un-riffed version of "This Island Earth" (haven't checked to see if comes with an English track, but suspect it does). I know what I'm watching tonight! EDIT: I'm Bummed! It's not Anamorphic like Amazon.de says in their specs (It's still in Letterbox format). Oh well, it was still worth the effort.

Mine was posted yesterday, shame that it's not anamorphic but am glad that it's got an English soundtrack. Are there any other extras on the disc Rex?

Yes, there are some extras. They are mostly geared around the Germanic comedy duo that did the German audio portion of the movie. The movie's trailer is included (as well as other movie trailers), all in German. The only stuff that's in English (BTW, no English sub-titles on anything) is "The Movie", and the un-riffed version on the second disc (which is in either Academy Ratio (1.33:1) or Pan & Scan, depending on which part of IMDb you believe). All in all it's not a bad release (especially if if you don't already have the original DVD release). It would be even better if I understood German. Rex

Got my copy, I'm happy to see the film again and though it is annoying for it to be non-anamorphic I'm glaf to finally own it on DVD.

Is the transfer any different from the original Image/Universal DVD?
That's cool that they include the UnMSTed THIS ISLAND EARTH, interesting that it's full-frame.
The movie was shot with the intention of being presented at 2:1, so I *think* it was shot open-matte.
