She was perfect as the vixen's mother, Ms. Haze, in Lolita.

Thanks for that link. I learned from that article that she was married to Tony Franciosa (not James Franciscus).

A really great actress. A great body of work. But I don't find it sad at all. She lived a full life. People die. Good night Shelly.

Technically this fits better in Nastenka's since she was in City on Fire.

Remember her in The Posidon Adventure? Turns out she was a good swimmer.. Dies of a heart attack in that movie, if that's not enough irony for you..

Night of the Hunter, Place in the Sun, A Patch of Blue... Great, great movies and performaces. Wonderful films. Also the original "Alfie." She was so good as the mistress who (finally) turns the tables on the womanizing Michael Caine. She'll definitely be missed.

I have already mourned her so many times in Poseidon, I feel like she's been dead for years.
I used to love seeing her on Carson. She was liberated WAY BEFORE there was "women's lib."
A top-notch actress, & a HELLUVA human being.
