"Everything You Need To Know" & the Hodgson's

I did a quick scan through the topics and didn't see this listed, so here it is. There's a new Discovery Channel series called "Everything You Need To Know" and they've done episodes on volcanoes, the brain etc. I caught the end of it one night while waiting for Mythbusters to come on. Thought the narrator was Harry Shearer and watching the credits confirmed that. But right after his name, listed as Supervising Producers were Joel & Jim Hodgson! I have no idea what a Supervising Producer does, and much online searching has not helped. Does anyone else have info on this?

Judging from what I know about TV writing because of Simpsons commentaries, a Supervising Producer basically is the middle ground between being a normal writer and being an Executive Producer (showrunner).
