I had wondered about Why Mike and CO would be doing the commentaries for Shout! And then be doing essentially the same thing for legend films at the same time. This puts it into perspective, thanks!
I really hope they do the 3 person “Film Crew” type commentaries on more older B movies for rifftrax in the future though as opposed to the downloadable commentaries for the newer films.

I was hoping this project would co-exist with Rifftrax. This project could focus on the older flicks and having skits again would be nice. Perhaps these four will sell well enough that more will be made. Maybe some semi-intelligent television executive (Barry Diller, if he is still around?) might decide that the Film Crew is a wonderful idea for a television series. Hmmmm... I'm guessing if they can only release this set DVDs, a TV series wouldn't be the best idea. Was it Mallon though who threatened to sue? Murphy talked about him in good terms when he was talking to Phantom last summer. I would guess most of this would have went down before that.

It's easy... Shout makes some profit, they shell out some of that cash to bring the crew back for more. It might be currently dead, but like the song said, "There's always tomorrow (for dreams to come true) - There's room for riiftrax and this if they so chose. And blasting on old B movies (unlike what RT is doing) would be a welcome addition to the fold.

Hi, folks,
Bob Honcho here. I just wanted to dispel the rumors of The Film Crew's premature demise.
Shout! Factory has all four taped Film Crew DVDs--complete with live-action intros and intermissions, bonus features, and other goodies--slated for release in 2007.
If these do well, the plan is absolutely to make more. So buy early, and buy often, and tell all your friends!
Best,
A Shout! Factory employee

At least that's what I've been reading into the whole thing.

Obviously no longer a factor if these 4 are being released. If it was a problem they'd still be in legal limbo (like so much of Jimi Hendrix unreleased material) and if Bob Honcho says it's so, I believe him

I prefer to think that it's J.K. Robertson.
Either way, he's right. Erik (employee of Legend/Rifftrax) says that Shout! Factory may make more, if these DVDs are successful enough. At the moment, however, these four releases are the only ones planned.

So, we DO have a former Rhino exec in our midst! I figured it was you.

I'm really glad to hear that the Film Crew is not dead. I still haven't gotten into Rifftrax because of the hassle and also, like others have mentioned, I just plain prefer watching riffs of old B movies. I will buy all 4 of these movies and if there is a way to get Shout more of the profits so that they'll make more, I'm all for it. (like buying direct from them instead of Amazon or DDD). I'm also excited that these film crew movies have intros and intermissions.

These will do well and you will continue to release them. Buying early and often is definitely in my plans and hopefully in the plans of all Film Crew fans everywhere. Which should include just about every member of this board. Best of luck in your endeavor.

If you are having issues with syncing the rifftrax to your movies, then good news: Sharecrow is releasing a new version of their software soon and they specifically said it will work perfectly with RiffTrax.

I was just thought what was being said was- these were hung up legalities, we're able to release them, but we can't do more after this. So was that all false? Something wrong on the internet?! I'm writing to Wikipedia!
