Mike's new freelance gig lists the MST version of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" as an Underrated Christmas classic. Read it here.

PS - In a nice bit of MST/RiffTrax symmetry, they also list "Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey" as total crap.

An Adam Sandler film listed as "Total Crap". I like this list!

I dunno. I kinda liked Nestor the Long-eared Donkey.
But then again, I'm a total freak.

This may earn me some scorn, but I for one disagree with A Christmas Story being called one of the best Christmas movies.
I dunno....Maybe it's just me....but I simply can't get into the movie, it's boring to me (and the fact that they run a 24 hour marathon of it on TBS screams "stale and over-exposed" to me.
That's just my opinion.

^ I agree. I'd be tearing my hair out two hours into a 24 hour marathon of A Christmas Story.

I don't think I'd like any movie very much after a 24 hour marathon, but I do love A Christmas Story. It's one of the most insightful movies about American kids and families, let alone Christmas. It's very traditional and not at all post-modern, but that's kind of what I like about it.

Good list. I maintain that Home Alone and The Santa Clause are good movies, though.

It's very traditional and not at all post-modern, but that's kind of what I like about it. The thing is it's probably the only Christmas movie that's anywhere close to real in that anyone who was a kid can relate to obsessing over the gift they really want. So there's a 24 hour marathon, BFD. Doesn't mean you have to watch it on a loop, only if you're too lazy to change the channel. It means the engineers at that station can program that on a loop so they can be home to spend the Holiday with their families. I don't see the big deal.
