So, Satellite News just updated its Tradin' Post rules. It states pretty clearly that if you have a broadcast version of MST3K: The Movie (or any of the out-of-print eps), then you may trade it.
Is that a new version of the rules, or has it always read that way? I don't remember. If so, traders could be trading recordings of MST3K: The Movie obtained from television. And it has been broadcast, right? Does it still get broadcast? Does it get broadcast in widescreen?
I have my German DVD and a VHS, but this could be a big deal for traders!

Well now, this is different. I certainly have no objections based on this new information.

Wow. That's pretty great. I've been wanting MST3K: The Movie on DVD for a while now, so i'm a little excited about this.
I am a bit confused though as to why, out of all the discontinued Rhino episodes listed, they didn't include The Beginning of the End as a broadcast-version-only.

Dunno - I asked and will post the response.

"Beginning Of The End" is ok to trade, if the source is from broadcast.

Well this has been my opinion all along.

Same here. I think the SN policy was understood for out of print Rhino eps, but there was an apparent moratorium on trading The Movie no matter what its source.
And now there's not.

Same here. I think the SN policy was understood for out of print Rhino eps, but there was an apparent moratorium on trading The Movie no matter what its source. And now there's not. I've been giving this some thought. SN is the official wing of what remains of BBI, and they allow tape trading within reason. Doesn't make trading "legal", but rather BBI makes a conscious business decision to turn a blind eye. It makes sense given that they are now basically an MST3K memorabilia distribution company. But, the movie is owned by Universal. They can and will crush anyone in their path into fine powder. It's also not unobtainable (it's just not easy or cheap.) Thus, I'm not inclined to promote trading of the movie.

As, if Universal cares about illegal distribution of MST3K: The movie. A film that they've probably forgotten they were involved with.

Since Vol. 11 has been announced, I know that 206, 409, 414 and 1011 will be added to the no trade list, but does anyone know if the MST Hour episode of Tormented will be added as well since Vol. 11 contains the host segments?

I would assume so, unless Rhino doesn't include all the material.
