I really just found out about it recently, but apparently it's finally supposed to be released this year.
To me the whole project is bizarre, does anyone here know anything in particular about it other than what's on the website for it?

I've had it listed as being "In Production Hell" for awhile now. I don't see it being released anytime soon.
Do you really even WANT to see it? I mean, when I first heard of it a few years ago, the graphics were dated even for then. By now? Whew.

Yea it looks a bit ridiculous, but it's something to take a look at.

Yeah, I made a thread about this a while back. Even though the graphics do look dated now, Id be very interested to see what they did with it anyway.

There's still a market for old-school games like this, albeit a relatively small, niche market. It obviously won't be a smash, but it should be a modest, cult hit, provided that it's decent. The number of Brains involved almost guarantees internet publicity, at the very least. I'd love to know more about it.
Oh, and Beez - rawr.

I’m pretty sure this is dead in the water, but you never know.
Edit - Looks like I was wrong!

I hope so. I want to play this with my grandkids the day it comes out.

The site says that they've imposed a Christmas 2007 deadline. It does sound like it's in the final stages of preparation, so I'd say it's finally looking pretty good.

Let's just hope they can keep to the deadline. Not that I'd want them to rush. When you rush good games you end up with something like Knights of the Old Republic II: a good game, but you keep thinking about how it could've been so much better.

Ya, keeping to a deadline is bad more often than good it seems like, unless your really have a huge staff to handle production. I'm still immensely bummed about Vanguard, which could (and should) have been one of the greatest games to come out in the past half dozen years or so, and ended up being a weak/pale immitation of what it was supposed to be. Even though they worked on it for years, a game like that takes a LOT of work and needed more time and proper direction. At least Darkstar sounds like it's gonna be some sort of Myst-style game tho, right? So it shouldn't be as difficult to polish it properly. Games that follow one storyline are a whole heck of a lot easier to create than ones that allow users unfettered freedom to a vast world I suppose Anyway, I'm sure I"ll pick it up if and when it's released. With that bunch of folks working it I'm forced to, even though it doesn't look appealing to me as a game (i.e. I'd never look twice at it w/o all the brains in it).

Wow! I never thought this project would see the light of day! I'll certainly buy it.

I doubt they rushed it.. since the deadline changed a lot, and it's taken a loooooooong time.
I am planning on getting it, for the obvious reason.

I don't have the supercomputer required to run it Given how old it is, I doubt you'll need a supercomputer.

So this will be a PC game? No console release?
