Well, I'm less thrilled than expected after reading a bit more than "animated adventures." If it was something like that animated mad scientist short that popped up recently (with Mike, Kevin, and Bill) I would be a lot more interested, but with essentially none of the "big," visible people from the show...my gut feeling says no.
I could be converted, but right now I'm more interested in the Legacy SeriesTM material.

Sounds interesting. Who knows what it will be like? I will just have to wait and see.

Talk about beatin' a dead horse... I hope this will do good, but I don't know. Without the real people that made the show awesome it's hard to see it happening in a way you want.

All I can think of is the "Brady Bunch Variety Hour!"

I'm kinda surprised that people are that excited about this. A new show of "animated adventures" made up of a single former writer of the show, and the producer who has seems to have angered/screwed over the rest of the show's talent doesn't really do that much for me. I'll check it out and keep an open mind (it could fun), but this kinda feels like, "Oh, so Mike, etc. are making money off something with a similar concept as our old show and I'm not cashing in? We'll see about that..." 'Fraid I agree with sb5. Not something that I have an interest in whatsoever. Nor does it seem like a medium that would lend itself to the original concept. We'll see, I suppose... Well, I'm guessing Jim pissed off Mary Jo too. But nevertheless, this concept could fail or be good. We'll have to see. I think having it animated will work fine I actually thought of a similar concept before. (though from the looks of it, it'll be dirt cheap animation) They COULD do silhoutte riffing. remember the concept was based off of animated silhouttes doing riffing. From the sounds of it, it'll be short little humorous skits, under the guise of "animated adventures." I imagine something like the early episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, except much less vulgar. The new website is what I'm most excited about. I'm guessing this is the main reason for the comeback, probably because they noticed they were getting hits on YouTube and not making anything from it. Or maybe it's to compete with Cartoon Dump and RiffTrax. I wonder if they're going to post some full public domain episodes, and if they can post any episodes already released by Rhino (probably not). Or if they'll post any shorts or serials. Will any first season stuff make it, or will Jim continue to want it forgotten. From what I understand is the REAL reason they didn't want the first season episodes aired is because they were trying to get the movie to go through and didn't want executives seeing one of the lamer season one episodes. I'm guessing the only reason they were frustrated about the airings around the time of season seven is the constant powerplays being pulled by Comedy Central. Who ever is going to voice Servo has got a steep steep hill to climb. It's gonna be super hard for someone to replace Kevin Murphy, maybe even more than Bill replacing Trace, as Kevin was the only voice of Servo during the "golden years" and fans who started watching after the SciFi era, probably know Kevin as the only REAL voice. Bill proved Crow could be voiced by someone other than Crow, many found Kevin to be better than Josh anyway. Plus this new person is going to be a total outsider, I'm guessing as oppossed to Mike or Kevin doing replacements, even Bill had some experience on the show. It seems the former BBI has split up into certain different camps. Frank and Joel, Trace and Josh, The Film Crew, and now Paul & Jim. Paul and Jim have always seemed like pretty funny guys, funnier than some other members of the writing crew, but not the cream of the crop like say Mike or Joel. It'll be interested to see if Jim, Paul, and the new batch of writers can come up with something funny or it'll go the way of New Coke.

Aw, man, I was kind of hoping that the character designs would be a little more solid - you know, like these: andrewdickman.deviantart.com/art/Send-em-the-movie-Frank-32976370And yeah, now that the initial glee of new MST3K-related stuff has worn off, I'm beginning to see how this could really be not that good. I've wanted to see MST3K in animated form for a while now, but preferably with the entire original cast, not just two members (one of whom is assuming the role formerly held by someone else). I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but still, I can't help but think that the concept could be a whole lot better.

This is wrong for some reason.
Something just says that the following situation occured:
Jim looked at the success of Rifftrax and Film Crew and, seeing that he can't stop Mike and the Guys from making money (as apparent from the legal troubles that set back the Film Crew), he wants to play his hand....albiet...in a rather...stupid fashion.
Animated adventures? He can only get Paul Chaplain? No Trace or Mary Jo? That's the best he can do with the "MST3K" title? I knew Jim wasn't the creative one (that was Joel), but...come on.
Its like going from eating Prime Rib to eating ...weird, lame brother of prime rib.
