I'm trying to reserve judgment on the animated series, but why do they have to call the original series "the legacy series"? Makes it sound like a buggy old software system that's only kept around because it's too complicated to replace. It does make it sound like they're trying too hard, doesn't it? It's great that MST3K as a brand is coming back, and I'm sure Mr. Mallon senses a business opportunity whose time has come. No worries there.

Well at least it's just little shorts, not full episodes.

Well at least it's just little shorts, not full episodes. Shorts of the bots on adventures. On animated adventures. With no mention of watching movies. I loves me some bots, but they were built to watch bad movies; NOT to have neat adventures. And animating it kinda takes away the "we built these from reject toys" charm.

Maybe it will be bizarre and so trippy and psychedelic that we won't comprehend it. That would be pretty cool.

But what kind of adventures? Are they in space? Are they on earth with Mike? Is Joel getting some $$$ from this? HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS GONNA WORK!?!

Unless it passes for Japanimation (hahahaha!!!!) there is no way I am watching a cartoon. Face it- we're grown. This news is DEPRESSING.
Admittedly, I wouldn't feel this way were it not a "Jim project".
I have narrow-minded loyalties to uphold, and that's just how it is.

Hey - let's wait and see. Anything MST is a great addition to the web. And a new store with, supposedly, new merchandise. Maybe even new coffee mugs? Wow!! And maybe they never did sell all the foam pieces of Deep 13 .....

Yea! My evil twin is back! Or am I his? In any event, welcome back, Godo! My first thought: Did Mallon go through his E-Bay money already?!? The proof will be in the product. The caricatures don't impress me, that's for sure. We'll see if they can make with the funny.

Seems like kind of a strange way to bring back the MST3K name, in terms of concept, anyway. And Jim suddenly being back in the picture without most of the other Brains is suspicious. I'll wait off and check out the new site and see what they're all about, but I'm not holding my breath for an amazing "rebirth", as it were.
Still, I'm glad to hear BBI is still active. It really can mean only positive things for releasing more episodes in the future. Hopefully...

He's always saying that animation is a medium, not a genre.

Thanks for the welcomes. ;D I could explain where I've been for two years, but that's more fit for CF Mountain...
As far as this whole thing goes, you have to think of the bigger picture. MST3K's nice little cult following can only keep it allive for so long. I mean, we are talking about a TV show that has been cancelled for 7 or 8 years now, that most people in the general public only vaguely remember, if at all.
While I am a little dubious regarding the appearance of the project and who is involved, someone is attempting to keep MST3K alive in some fashion. To me, that is huge! It will not appeal to us all I'm sure, but I welcome any attempt to do so.
I do wish Joel was invlolved somehow, though. Then I would be sold on this project, hands down.

Also I hope MST3K.com is more for the show than the webshorts.

I think that people who expect to see robots riffing on something, or to a lesser extent a recreation of the old show, are just going to be setting themselves up for some dissapointment here.
I think more than that, we'll be looking at the equivalent of animated host segments. So we should be expecting the same tier of entertainment as "Charlie The Unicorn" or thereabouts.
I'll give it three episodes or so before I make up my mind. A project like this won't hit the ground running its first attempt.
I also doubt I'll enjoy it as much as, say, Charlie the Unicorn.
Come to think of it, it'll probably be the animation equivalent of halfpixel.com.
And while I'd like to see more of the other cast members getting involved, considering their other time commitments etc., I doubt it would've even been possible for them to get involved until the show can prove itself to be something worth getting in on.
