Ya know, I just don't get why people are so uptight about pricing. $13.00 vs $14.99 ? Two bucks?
If you're a fan, you won't blink an eye.
There's an expression in the collectibles business, when people are trying to get an appraisal of something they own. Ultimately, the worth of anything is defined by what someone is willing to pay for it.

Wow, you step away from the board for a little while, and look what happens. I have to admit that after all the trouble I went through to land a copy of volume ten at a reasonable price when it was discontinued, I just about had a brain aneurysm when they were saying that Giant Gila Monster would not be released as a single episode. I am very glad that Rhino didn't decide to bend us over and that they pulled through and did the right thing.
As far as pricing goes, lets not forget that in the end, Rhino is still a corporation and the goal of any healthy corporation is to make money. They know that they are going to be sitting on a potential collectors item amongst us rabid fans. I really would not surprised to see the price go as high as $19.99. I will gladly pay it though. It's defintely better then buying the whole box set over again.

I have no problem with these prices listed so far even with the likely sky high shipping i'll need to pay because the average price of a DVD over here is £20 ($40) so you can see why I import, although with MST I have to as there's no Region 2 release. Thankfully Amazon has done alot to drive prices down as consumers in Britain are forever ripped off. Everything costs double it does in the States. Still I hope it's not too dear for everyone who wants to buy it.

Yeah, I'd definitely pay $19 for the single disc rather than $50 or whatever for a four-disc set of which I already own three of the discs. It's a better deal for me since I already have Vol. 10.
I'm tired of complaining. I can live with this.

There's an expression in the collectibles business, when people are trying to get an appraisal of something they own. Ultimately, the worth of anything is defined by what someone is willing to pay for it. Well, if that were true, I'd be getting a lot of $10 MST episodes and $30 box sets. Seriously, though, being a fan of something does not mean that one just rolls over and lets them charge him out the arse. Pricing standards still apply, whether they're for Adam Sandler DVDs or for MST3K. Bad pricing is bad pricing, period. Rhino's not the only one guilty of this, of course.

I wonder if the single-disc of GILA MONSTER will just be in a plain paper sleeve or will have an actual cover/case? If it is just in a plain paper sleeve, maybe it will be somewhere between $9.99 to $14.99. While possible of course, I doubt it will be higher than $14.99... it's not like they had to license the movie.

That's what I was thinking, travis.
I'd imagine the release will be in a paper sleeve, as it's a limited release and they wouldn't want to waste money on producing the inserts for the cases. I hope not, though. I really want a case to go along with it.

I'd hope to heck it isn't any more than $14.99. For one fourth of a set that'll cost around $50, $15 would be steep. But then, there're lots of single disc DVDs that list at that.
I'm pullin' fer $10.
And if there's no artwork, there're plenty of folks who'll have one whipped up quick for one to print out. I don't mind a lack of artwork if it means I pay only $10.

Hell there is already art for it, especially for people like myself making the transition to Josh Way's covers, but I think we will be very luck if it's under 15 dollars.

So will Joel, Trace, and Josh's extra be on the disc if it's sold on it's own? Josh?? I heard it was Joel, Trace and Frank in the extra.

From the first post in this thread:
Even more exciting--one of the features of the disk will be a short sketch featuring Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu and J. Elvis Weinstein commenting on the SNAFU that led to the withdrawl and re-release.

New message on mst3k.com homepage, something about single-disc sale on January first... Other than Manos, they've never rereleased single-disc eps before, have they?
