Wow, I guess only one of you saw the Unearthly, oh well...
Here are the rules again:
You watch DIABLOIK or you remember it from last time, whatever.
You rate said episode using a 1 to 10 rating. 1 being, "This episode totally sucks! It is so bad it physically hurt me!" and 10 being "One of the best episodes I’ve ever seen in my life!”
Then you tell me and everyone reading this post why that episode deserves that rating, whether it be good or bad. Go into as much or as little detail as you want, but more is always more entertaining.
I'll go first:
DIABOLIK is very good. I hate to see MST go, but this is probably the best “farewell” episode I could ask for. All the host segments are great. From the earth song to the actual crash, seeing them continue to watch and make fun of bad movies, it was really great. And the movie was fun too, I think its based on a series of European comics, and its campy enough to be able to watch without much pain. The riffs were really good too, even having references to PRINCE OF SPACE and MST3K: THE MOVIE so everything in this episode rolls together really well, there were some very good (not to mention subtle) references to the show over the years, all making it one of the most perfect balanced and great episodes you can find. You can tell everybody on the crew worked really hard on this one, and it shows. A 10 out of 10.
Fun Fact: The “actor” that plays Diabolik, John Phillip Law, is also the same “actor” who played Kalgon in the classic MST3K episode SPACE MUTINY!
Next week I pick BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z! I hope you taped it that one time it was on SciFi!
“Eva, how long has it been?”
“Well it kinda shrank when you died…”
“That is one Europey road.”
“Hello Dr. Meechum.”
“Reverse Raccoon Man!”
"Thank goodness they had three men on Segetto!"
