This idea has been bouncing around in my head for... well, well over a year let's put it that way. It's a game, a fun game, a fun game that I've come up with. I think it may be fun, I don't know as I've not tried it (maybe somebody here will be brave enough to?) Anyway here it is.
My game is called The MST Challenge Game. This is how it works, during the viewing of the film in an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, you the viewer score points on a 1-5 scale based on the funnyness or the goodness of a riff, 1 being the lowest score 5 the highest. Bonus points are scored on an additional scale of 1-3 for anytime a character's riff cracks up another character, 1 for a little laughter, 2 for good amount, 3 for break up laughter. Just to show how this would work, here's a sample of how scoring would work.
Crow - "Fonzie's death car! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyeeee!"
Mike (laughs, gives Crow thumbs up) - "Aaaaaaaaaaayyyeeeee!"
Servo (laughs)
So based on my own opinion, Crow's riff would get a 5 because I thought it was hilarious. The fact that he got both Mike and Servo to laugh gives him 3 bonus points for a total of 8. So I'd add that to a Crow's score. That's about as good as I can explain what this is all about.
At the end of the movie, tally up all the points and see who was actually the funniest character in that episode. Nobody gets a prize but it sure is fun to play this game (hopefully.) And please, don't think me as being insane but being a complete genius for coming up with such a brilliant (and not so complicated) idea for a game that can scientifically prove to yourself who is the funniest character in any given episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000!
