All right, this is a topic that got tossed about on the IMDB boards for MST3K. A few people posted riffs in which Joel/Mike and the Bots used a riff that was a reference to another experiment. I'm going to try and take it a step further. I now present "6 Degrees of MST3K". What you do is try to find the longest chain of episode references. Here's the chain I have.
I am going to connect "Manos: Hands of Fate," with "The Crawling Hand"
509: Eegah. When Eegah starts feeling Roxy's hair Joel says "Oh no, this guy went to the Torgo school of fondling" (reference to Manos, start of the chain)
512: Mitchell: During the opening scene Tom says "Eeegahh," followed by Crow (Schtemlo) and Joel (Watch out for Snakes!). Later in the film, as Benton and Cummings board the boat, Joel and the bots go "Oh no not the Catalina Caper!!!" (obvious reference)
204: Catalina Caper: When the CIA guy trips and falls on the gangplank, he says "I don't believe it", and Crow says "He just saw Big Jake" (reference to the Sidehackers)
202: Sidehackers: Throughout the whole Big Jake "stealth" scene, Joel and the bots say things like "no guns, not allowed" and "no sweaters, not allowed" and "no drumming, not allowed" (reference to the shopkeep in The Crawling Hand. The chain ends here)
Okay, so I used a 6 film chain. Let's see if anyone can find other chains.
