Can we play some Talking heads stuff, from the album 77? (Thank you much, cornjob!!!!) I heard some something-phone stuff in there. And I could translate the French words in "Psycho Killer".

I'd love to do some Talking Heads or Devo stuff...hmm, maybe even Siouxsie & the Banshees (only because Budgie is my drumming idol)...Residents...
Hmm.........
On the subject of music...I was looking at the lists on the MST3KINFO.COM page and I was looking at the Rush References List and whomever wrote it must have been a delusional Rush fan...
"DEFENSE"?
Mike says, "Oh come on, give in! After all, they gave us Ed The Sock, and Rush!"
I mean this is what SWAYS Tom from his "respect the Canucks" bit and, if anything, it prompts his Anti-Canada rant.
I fail to see how Ed The Sock could be used in our defence.
(did you like how I used both Hoser and American spellings?)

I always felt that when they mentioned Rush they were more or less mocking them. I doubt that BBI are Rush fans. And by the way, our first band practice is Saturday afternoon at Sampo's house. Be sure and have enough snacks Sampo!

Stop the Rush bashing!!! Servo

Hope everyone likes pizza rolls!
For what it's worth, I sat in on drums for one show with a band in high school and we covered "The Spirit of Radio". I just mention that for anyone who wants to throw a RUSH cover in the mix.

Don't worry, I may hate Rush, but I do believe that the Rush jabs are 'playful' and not neccessarily mean-spirited...but they are JABS. I suspect Mike probably digs some Rush or did dig Rush at some point. A lot of the music related jokes are (Mike as writer) self-depricating. (i.e most of the jokes about being about being a stoned out, stone-washed jean rocker dude with a van stuff is Mike poking fun at himself and every other white male youth from the mid 70s to late 80s.).

Absolutely! I just posted on another thread that your allright..for a Canadian. But now I think your allright..for a human! When I said he takes jabs at Rush I meant it was pretty much "good natured ribbig" Like when Crow goes back in time to stop Mike from taking the temp job that leads him to the Deep 13 job. He's playing a character that's the stereotypical Rush/classic rock stonner type of guy. And this is just a guess based on what information I can gather but I doubt Mike Nelson is now a practicing Rush fan.

I don't know, I'll probably never know. But, it's OK, I'm still on horns. No Rush, just MST3K classics like "Idiot Control Now" and a rousing rendition of the haunting "Master Ninja Theme".
Let's do it,
Servo

i play trumpet, drums, percussion and piano. played trumpet for almost 9 years now, though I admit I am losing interest in the intrument. i've been played drums regularly since about 4 years ago, and have played various percussion instruments. I picked up piano as a back up to my jazz band, and I still "tickle the ivories' as they would say in the good old days. I'm self taught on all accounts except trumpet.
word.
