Si senor!
I got a copy for christmas as well! I'd already seen Sidehackers and The Unearthly, and haven't watched Atomic Brain yet. A word of warning if you've not yet prepared for the unearthly: BEWARE! Come to think of it, it might be easier if you skipped one of the shorts in the beginning, and then watch that AFTER The Unearthly, cuz Unearthly alone is a slow one.

The Unearthly is an ungodly episode. I just can't take it all in one sitting. And I've managed to sit through Manos, and then Hobgoblins back to back!

I just picked up this set recently. My thoughts:
- "The Atomic Brain": Pure hilarity, from the delightfully twisted movie to the spot-on perfect riffs ("And she floats gently to her death"). The host segments are pretty dang funny too, especially the invention exchange - you can't top Trace Beaulieu as Dr. Forrester impersonating Crow. - "The Unearthly": Decent riffing on a sluggish film, but the shorts are pure gold ("Tommy's the Lathe of Heaven!"). Nice host segments, but overall not a sidesplitter. - "The Sidehackers": Depressing movie with early Season 2 so-so riffs. But some great host segments help to save it, especially the final one ("I will push the button...I will push the button...I will push the button"). - "Shorts Volume 2": The Joel-era shorts are actually kinda "meh" when placed next to the Mike-era shorts. I don't know what it is, but Mike's delivery on his lines seems to floor me every time ("A wheel slices into the crowd, killing three!"). A collection of hilarity.

Sidehackers: Good riffs at points, but the movie drags on into nowhere especially with the whole "revenge" and all.
The Atomic Brain: Loved the riffs on this one. Overral very effective. *narrator* "Making love to 80 year old woman in a 20 year olds body" Crow: "Oh they do it everyday in LA."
The Unearthy: works best when bashing the main doctor guy (loved the operation scene "now kiss me hard right through the mask!") and I agree with superfreakout that is hard to finish.
The Shorts: I liked Catching Trouble, Day at the fair, and last clear chance a lot. the others were ok.

I completely agree about The Unearthly. Both Manos & Red Zone Cuba are more of a pleasure to watch (due to top-notch riffing). For such a short film, it amazingly manages to feel like it's consuming 4 or 5 hours of your life!
Sidehackers is a mildly tough sit for me. The movie itself just feels greasy, uninteresting, fairly offensive, and there really isn't much of a comedic payoff. Most of the time I would actually rather watch The Hellcats! At least that movie didn't bother burdening itself with a plot. The Atomic Brain is easily the best episode among the three. That host segment with weatherbot Servo is hilarious!
IMO the best short is The Days of Our Years. M&TB take a would be depressing borefest and make it consistantly laughable. I never really cared much for Catching Trouble though.
I must say that volume three is a STRONG contender for weakest volume overall.

This was the first set I got. I thought The Unearthly was really bad but the rest was A++. I think vol 6 is the weakest set

#3 was actually the second set I bought. It's easy to see why you consider volume 6 the weakest, Ren. Out of all 8 released, #6 is my only other candidate for weakest (only because volume 7 has great bonus features). For me, Teenagers From Outer Space is the best episode on #6 and I'd rate it a B+. I really didn't care for Gunslinger or Leeches. The shorts are the best part of that collection and since I liked them overall better than the shorts on volume 3, I think #6 is slightly better, if not tied for worst.

Mr. B's Lost Shorts was okay. But My favorite out of all the shorts Rhino has put out is Shorts Vol 2.

I just remembered that "Keeping Clean & Neat" is on Shorts Vol 2, can't argue with that hilarity. But Mr. B materialized before me and threatened me with a pretty dangerous looking kazoo.
