I'm torn, I voted for Saving Private Ryan, but I also really loved Schindler's List and Jaws.

Have to go with Schindler's List....
He managed to keep it from becoming all "angels and demons"....unsentimental and real.
"[He addresses the factory's SS guards] Oskar Schindler: I know you have received orders from our commandant, which he has received from his superiors, to dispose of the population of this camp. Now would be the time to do it. Here they are; they're all here. This is your opportunity. Or, you could leave, and return to your families as men instead of murderers. [the guards gradually exit]"
"Oskar Schindler: I could have got more out. I could have got more. I don't know. If I'd just... I could have got more. Itzhak Stern: Oskar, there are eleven hundred people who are alive because of you. Look at them. Oskar Schindler: If I'd made more money... I threw away so much money. You have no idea. If I'd just... Itzhak Stern: There will be generations because of what you did. Oskar Schindler: I didn't do enough! Itzhak Stern: You did so much. [Schindler looks at his car] Oskar Schindler: This car. Goeth would have bought this car. Why did I keep the car? Ten people right there. Ten people. Ten more people. [removing Nazi pin from lapel] Oskar Schindler: This pin. Two people. This is gold. Two more people. He would have given me two for it, at least one. One more person. A person, Stern. For this. [sobbing] Oskar Schindler: I could have gotten one more person... and I didn't! And I... I didn't!"
I'll never forget that.

Saving Private Ryan. A great movie that just got to me. I like a lot of the others, but this one has a special place for me.

Saving Private Ryan. A great movie that just got to me. I like a lot of the others, but this one has a special place for me. Why? For having a great opening and nothing else? Letting the movie drag? Showing Army men forgetting army protocol? Sorry, I'm not trying be mean. I'm just a blunt guy... And this is one of those movies that I don't understand the appeal of. But lots of Spielberg films are like that. Life Is Beautiful is infinitely superior to the lackluster imitation tearjerker "Schindler's List". The only thing "The Goonies" is good for is 80's Nostalgia. Both Jurassic Park films had more holes in them then the U.S.'s pre-Iraq intelligence. His greatest film is Jaws. Nothing is superior.

It had the greatest opening scene in any movie. Plus it was such a realistic look at the events in WW2. Movies concerning WW2 up until it were to melodramatic and/or one-man hero type movies to me. Both of my grandfathers, and all of my grandparents' brothers were in WW2, and it just affected me in a way. A lot of it is indescribable, but this is what I can describe.
