These are only movie he's directed. Now that War of the Worlds has come out, I thought it would be a good time to make this list.

I haven't seen War Of The Worlds yet, but it doesn't matter. Jaws is my second favorite movie of all time so this was probably the easiest choice I've ever had to make in a poll.

Wow what a cool thread idea. Anyway now that someone else made this poll so I couldn't screw it up i'll say Jaws.

CE3K does it for me. I guess it all comes down to whether or not you liked the concluding scenes at Devil's Tower. The first hour and a half of the movie is perfect, but some may not care for the denoument. I happen to like it, so my vote goes to the aliens with the keyboards.

Everyone hated it and its the frgotten Spielberg movie, but I think its one of the best ensemble comedies from the late 70's: "1941"

Wow what a cool thread idea. It's not the idea that's cool, it's the execution, Ro-Matt. ;D

Wow, I can't believe I'll be the first person to pick Raiders of the Lost Ark. Without a doubt one of the best popcorn adventure films ever made, with a fantastic score to boot. After this, Spielberg's movies took a large nose dive in quality.

I liked 1941 too.
However, my favorite is probably 'Last Crusade'.
I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like Jaws.

Since the topic says "best", I think Schindler's List should win. If it were "favorite", then I'd vote for Raiders... in a heartbeat. In fact, I'll still vote for Raiders..., just because I can. And DonQ, I'm with you regarding Jaws. Never did anything for me. But at least it wasn't cripplingly boring like 2001.

Much as I love the Indiana Jones movies, and as good as Schindler's List is, it's Jaws, and it's not close for me.

I really liked Indiana Jones. It was just a lot of fun to watch.
Side note: Saw War of the Worlds yesterday. I am not sure I liked it much. It was horrific and that's not my kind of entertainment. My wife insisted we see it and I'm kinda sorry I did. It's not really because it's a Steven Spielberg movie. It just pushes some buttons I didn't know I had. I have a fear of crowds and civilization breaking down. This film was all about that and I was squirming in my seat hoping the thing would end. I won't see it again.
