Thanks, Doc, for the review. I'll keep it in mind when I go and see it. Sometimes you just want so much for something to be better than it turns out to be, ya'know?

I finally saw it. IMO, this is Gilliam's worst movie. However, I'm not quick to blame him. Obviously there seems to be a clash between conventional Hollywood and Gilliam strangeness. Does anyone know if he had trouble making this movie to fit his creative vision? It had the Gilliam dark humor, which was hilarious, and the wacky Gilliam style, but the Grimm chracters were totally bland, and you never really believed what was going on. There was no weight to it. All that said, I loved the slams on the French. But this movie seemed just too ambitious. Gilliam's worst movie. if has a lot of good stuff in it, but not good enough for me to recommend it. I read an article that said Terry G. had a lot of clashes with Miramax. He's accusing them of interfering, etc. With a guy like Gilliam, you're better off just letting him do his thing--and pray he doesn't go too far over budget. I'll be sure to check this out at the Dollar Theater.

I'm planning on seeing it soon, if I can afford it.
I've heard people (that I respect) who loved it, and people (that I respect) who hated it....so maybe this is one of those few films that's really up to the individual. I dunno. I'll see.
