I didn't include T3 because it wasn't nearly as good as the first two.

I admit to loving T3 far more than the first two. Both were some of Cameron's weaker efforts IMO, and action is Arnold's thing which T3 had plenty of.
But out of those two, I had to go with the original. It flowed a lot better than the overlong second one and was a much more intense film.

Terminator 3 may have been the worst, most unnecessary sequel since Jaws 4 the Revenge.

I prefer T1, evil Arnie is just more enjoyable.

The original is a pretty good sci-fi/action film.

T2 has the bigger budget and better effects, but T1 is the better movie.
BTW, has anyone else checked out the deleted scenes on T1? One of them changes the ending a little by extending the scene in the factory. It shows the aftermath with the police and EMTs there taking away Sarah and Reese's body, then some worker at the factory shows another worker the Terminator remains in the giant press. The scene then switches outdoors and pulls back, revealing the name of the factory's company as Cyberdyne Systems. So the plot for T2 was pretty much set up in this deleted T1 scene.

Definitely the first one. For me, it's not even close. Much as I like T2, the first was a better story and Ahnold as the bad guy can't be beat, IMO.

Have to say "The Terminator" was the far superior of all three. Arnold was awesome as the the machine, and Michael Biehn playing Reese was both powerful and emotional. Plus it's darker story was awesome. It may look a little dated compared to today, but it's one of those films you can watch again and again.
"Terminator 2: Judgement Day", while still an awesome film doesn't have the same impact as T1. Arnold became the babysitter and I couldn't stand the whole "The Terminator is learning to be human" thing. Although the future war scene in the beginning totally rocked. Plus, I love the fact that some of the resistance fighters have M41A Pulse Rifles. (Little unknown fact: In the original draft of Aliens, Bishop was created by Cyberdyne Systems)
"Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" was actually an enjoyable movie for me. I went and saw it with no expectations and the like. I liked Arnold much more in this compared to T2. He was (again) reprogrammed, but he wasn't learning in this one. Nick Stahl seemed more fitting to play John Connor (He resembles Michael Biehn more then Eddie Furlong does) and the action wasn't over the top. Plus it had the best ending of all the movies, ending on such a downer.

As much as I like all of them (Yes, I did like the 3rd one quite a bit actually) I had to go with the original. Arnold as the bad terminator was fantastic. I also think Michael Biehn rules so this was somewhat of an easy choice for me.

I thought all 3 movies were great. But Terminator 2 is by far the best of the series. Robert Patrick is fantastic as the bad guy. And the look of the film was awesome. I love the bluish hue the whole movie has - very industrial and cold. And I remember how amazing the special effects were when the movie first came out. Now it's kind of old hat - but back in the day it was really new an exciting.

T2, although I like both of them a lot. Robert Patrick as the shape-shifting newer model was a classic unstoppable villain, even more so than the original Schwarzenegger model.
